Uptowne Babe Fastest Qualifier In Saturday Night’s Trials For $895,210 Remington Park Futurity
Uptowne Babe, ridden by Rolando Raudales, posted the fastest 330-yard qualifying time on Saturday night in trials for the $895,210 Remington Park Futurity(RG1). The rich final will be conducted on April 20.

Uptowne Babe Fastest Qualifier In Saturday Night’s Trials For $895,210 Remington Park Futurity

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 6, 2019—Five different trainers and five different jockeys filled out the field for the final of the Restricted Grade 1, $895,210 Remington Park Futurity by qualifying five more 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred American Quarter Horses in the trials Saturday.

The fastest qualifier on Saturday was Uptowne Babe, who got to the finish line first in trial number two of 11 heats, stopping the clock in :16.857 seconds for the 330 yards on a track labeled muddy.

Jockey Rolando Raudales was in the irons for trainer Guillermo Valdivia. This filly, sired by Mr Jess Perry out of the FDD Dynasty mare Ms Southern Dynasty, also had the top Speed Index for the two nights of trials, earning an 88 for the win.

Uptowne Babe, a full sister to Ruidoso Futurity(G1) winner Uptown Dynasty, is owned by Sam Green of Monett, Mo. Bred in Oklahoma by her owner, she was a $40,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale repurchase.

Chilitos, under jockey Nestor Duran, defeated Daisy Cakes and jockey Stormy Smith by a neck in the final trial (Race 12) Saturday night to post the second and third fastest times.

Trainer Santiago Riojas, Jr. conditions Chilitos, a homebred son of leading sire Apollitical Jess, for owners Anna and Omar Paredes. Omar bred the sorrel colt from the Game Patriot mare Mary Me Anna. He was only the second horse on Saturday to break the 17 second barrier, finishing the 330 yard course in :16.988.

Reliance Ranches LLC's homebred Daisy Cakes finished in :17.024 to get the third fastest time on Saturday. Mike Robbins conditions the royally bred filly by leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon from the multiple grade 1 producing First Down Dash mare Lotta Love For Robyn, dam of Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity(G1) winner Lotta Blue Man and Texas Classic Futurity(G1) winner Tres Friends.

Only a nose separated another pair of 2-year-olds in trial 9 (race 10) who garnered the final two slots for the rich futurity for accredited Oklahoma-breds.

Tren de Carga, under jockey Jesse Levairo, rallied over Relentless Jessie to get the fourth fastest clocking of :17.036 seconds. Trainer Josue Ponce saddled the son of multiple stakes sire Freighttrain B for owner-breeder Bobby D. Cox. The $45,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale repurchase is out of the One Famous Eagle mare Corazonas.

Corazonas is a half-sister to First To Celebrate, by First Down Dash, who produced Celebriti, another qualifier to the 2019 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity(RG1) for Cox and Ponce on Friday night.

Relentless Jessie, a daughter of leading first-crop sire Hes Relentless, earned the final spot with a :17.040 clocking. Racing for owner Manuel Francisco Mata and trainer Luz Chavira, Relentless Jessie entered the trials off a very impressive maiden win in her career debut at Remington Park March 17.

Bob Moore Farms LLC bred the sorrel filly from the Gold Medal Jess mare Jess A Queen. She was a $3,500 bargain for Mata at the 2018 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale.

Trainer Josue Ponce and jockey Jesse Levario qualified two for the finals, set to be run on Saturday, April 20. James Flores, Remington Park’s leading rider, also qualified two for the finals, both on night one of the trials. They were the two fastest qualifiers on Friday, April 5.
