LOS ALAMITOS, CA—MARCH 29, 2019—An outstanding array of 2-year-old Quarter Horses have been posting sharp 220-yard workouts recently at Los Alamitos. Here's a look at several of these runners with quick drills from March 19 to 26.

On March 19, the Paul Jones-trained filly Scoop There It Is worked in :12.4 from the outside post while facing the precocious Corona Cartel filly Rhapsody En Blue in :12.5. Owned and bred by Double Bar S Ranch, Scoop There It Is is by Corona Cartel and out of the derby winning mare Scoop Of Sunshine, who earned $200,224 in her career while winning the 2013 Governor's Cup Derby to go along with a third in the Grade 1 Southern California Derby and a fourth in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Super Derby.

Her workmate, Rhapsody En Blue, is royally bred, as she's out of Run The Dash, the dam of 2007 World Champion Blues Girl Too, Grade 1 winner Blues Man Too and top runner The Blues Man.

The Mike Robbins-trained Old Blue Shirt also worked in :12.4 while racing in between horses on March 19. The colt by One Famous Eagle is out of Back In The Pack, the dam of 2018 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity finalist Pack Light. Working on the outside of Old Blue Shirt was Favorite Foose, a gelded son of Foose, who also worked in :12.4.

His granddam is 2010 La Primera Del Año Derby runner-up Chickafire. The Jose Flores-trained Diamond Rock a Parsons Rock colt, and the Jones-trained Mental Effort, a Favorite Cartel colt, both worked in :12.4. Diamond Rock is from the family of the multiple graded stakes placed mare Go And Dash, while Mental Effort is out of 1999 Dashing Folly Handicap winner Iba Quick Chick.

Jones had two other sharp looking workers on March 19 in High Plains Prize and Lo Lo Jonez, both fillies with times of :12.5. Bred in Texas, High Plains Prize is by First Down Dash and out of Ms First Prize Rose, a winner of $550,105. She won the Grade 1 Rainbow Futurity in 2013 and was fifth in that year's Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity. Lo Lo Jonez is by First Moonflash and out of Rainbows N Diamonds, a winner of over $150,513 with top three finishes in 15 of 25 career starts.

On March 23, Corona Moonflash delivered an impressive :12.4 clocking for trainer Felix Gonzalez. Racing from the inside post, the New Mexico-bred filly by First Moonflash is out of Versions Runnninggal, a young mare out of 2009 All American Futurity winner Runnning Brook Gal, who earned over $1.5 million in her career.

The Monty Arrossa-trained duo of Loose On Katella and Favorite Mongoose worked in tandem in a time of :12.4. Loose On Katella is a full-sister to Katella Deli, the second place finisher in the 2017 Los Alamitos Super Derby and third place finisher in the 2016 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity. Favorite Mongoose is from the family of Mongoose Effort, Mongoose Hawkette and more.

Others with :12.5 drills included the Juan Aleman-trained Apollitical B Policy, a colt by Apollitical Blood and out of two-time Grade 1 futurity finalist BP Its My Policy; the Lindolfo Diaz-trained Chayito Cartel, a colt out of Runnin In Traffic, who ran in seven stakes races; the Jaime Gomez-trained Carolina Corona, a filly by Corona Cartel; and the Aleman charge Apollitical Spell, a filly out of Chalalita, who earned over $77,000 in her career. Chalalita's dam is Chalala, who won 12 races and $125,244 at Los Alamitos.

On March 26, the Paul Jones-trained Texas-bred filly Foxys First Kiss looked brilliant when working in :12.3 from the outside post. Bred in Texas, she's by Kiss My Hocks and out of Foxy Moonflash, who won six races and $283,978 in her career. She won three graded stakes races in her career. Jones also trains Jess A Favorite Kiss, who worked in :12.4 from the outside post.

She's a Filly by Jess Being Valiant out of Favorite Kiss, a winner of $53,315 and out the Grade 1 winner The Goodbye Kisser. Aleman, meanwhile, saddled Sacred Nation to :12.5 work from the outside post. He's by Favorite Cartel and out of Tahma Hawk, the dam of All American Futurity finalist Crooked Path plus stakes winner Stel Hawk and graded stakes finalist Ray Donovan.
