Trainer Eddie Willis' Money All Day Wins Cavalry Charge In Five-Horse Photo at Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 28, 2019—The cream rose to the top in the feature race Thursday night at Remington Park as leading trainer Eddie Willis sent out the winner, a horse appropriately named Money All Day.

The fans took the name of the 3-year-old gelding to heart as they bet him down to 3-5 odds from the morning line of 4-1. Willis solidified his foothold atop the trainers standings with 15 wins this meet, including two Thursday night. He is four ahead of Dee Keener.

Jockey Jimmy Brooks broke swiftly from the gate from the 1-hole with Money All Day and never looked back. Behind him was a cavalry charge of four horses in the photo from second to fifth.

It was only a head back to the fifth-place horse from second as the longest-priced horse in the field at 90-1, DF Apollitical Sign, bookended the exacta with the shortest-priced horse for a payout of $204.40. The runner-up nosed out two competitors that dead-heated for the show – JK Wildcat Red and Safari Moonlight.

When the dust cleared from the charge to the wire, Money All Day, owned by Ed Melzer of Edmond, Okla., was the winner on the rail by a head. The sophomore gelding was bred in Oklahoma by Reliance Ranches LLC. He paid $3.40 to win, $2.60 to place and $2.40 to show. DF Apollitical Sign returned $49.60 to place and $25 to show.

Brooks has ridden Money All Day in all eight starts and has now won three times with him. Money All Day is by One Famous Eagle out of the Corona Cartel mare A Dream to Remember. He has now won two of four starts at Remington Park.

Money All Day earned $12,222 for the victory in the $27,250 allowance race, under the conditions of 3-year-olds-and-up that had not won three races in their career, going 330 yards. He has now made a total of $54,789 during his career. Money All Day stopped the timer in 16.926 seconds over a fast track for a speed index of 86.

Money All Day showed his class as a 2-year-old last fall at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla. After finishing second in back-to-back trial runs at Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico, Willis qualified him for the $267,000 Black Gold Futurity final at Will Rogers Downs, by winning a trial on Sept. 8.

He went off at 7-2 odds in the Sept. 23 final and ran fourth. Money All Day then was laid off from September to March where he made his debut as a 3-year-old at Remington with an allowance win in an event for non-winners of two career races, by three-quarters of a length. He followed that up with his impressive win Thursday night, running in conditions again.

Racing continues Friday at Remington Park with 12 races beginning at 6 p.m.
