Bullet Bonnie Wins Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Derby At Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 23, 2019—Bullet Bonnie pulled the upset at 20-1 odds Saturday at Remington Park to win the Grade 1, $61,100 Speedhorse Graham Paint and Appaloosa Derby. The 3-year-old filly won by a neck over Memories Of Lil Hero.

Owned by Dee Keener and Steve Wright, of Inola, Okla., and trained by Keener, Bullet Bonnie was ridden by James Flores. The victory was the sixth of the night for Flores who jumped to the top of the rider standings at Remington Park with 13 wins.

Bullet Bonnie was bred in Oklahoma by her owners and is a Paint daughter of Duke Kahanamoku (QH) from the Country Chicks Man (QH) mare SW Eye Candy. She made $23,218 for her third career victory from eight lifetime starts. The win in her first attempt of 2019 moves her total bankroll to $36,776.

Bullet Bonnie paid $42.20 to win, $12.40 to place and $8.40 to show. Cap Attack was third, a half-length behind the winner.

This was the second victory in the Speedhorse Graham Derby for Keener as he also saddled PHQ Goodbye Earl to the win in 2017. Flores won the race for the second year in a row as he also rode Expressions N Snow to victory in 2018.

Levings Racing LLC's Memories Of Lil Hero picked up $10,387 for second. Trainer R.L. Rick Robinson saddled the brown gelding by second-crop sire Little Pyc (QH) out of Memories Of Texas by Texas Hero. Buddy Albin is the breeder and Agustin Silva had the riding call aboard the stakes winner of $141,714.

Dee Keener also saddled third-place finisher Cap Attack, a Capo de Capi (QH) gelding owned by Planefun, LLC. Bred in Oklahoma by Dean and Dusty Cole, the sorrel gelding is out of Takin On Judy by Judys Lineage. Ridden by Rolando Raudales, Cap Attack earned $6,721 to push his earnings mark to nearly $61,000.

Live Moonshine, Rp Live Wire Dash, Admiral Tom, Son Of A Grip, Leonard B, Ballesteros and I R Cricket completed the field.

Remington Park racing continues on Sunday, March 24 with a 10-race afternoon program underway at 1:30pm-Central.
