OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—FEBRUARY 22, 2019—Trainer Charley Hunt sent out one of his swift veterans for a workout Friday morning at Remington Park and 10-time stakes winner AJs High did nothing to disappoint.
This swift 7-year-old gelding who won the 2015 $306,000 Remington Park Derby and the 2016 $354,000 Challenge Championship at Los Alamitos in southern California, covered 220 yards this morning in 11.50 seconds handily, the fifth fastest work of 120 timed at the distance.
Ajs High, a son of Apollitical Jess, out of the Rare Form mare Regally Rare, has had his picture taken in stakes racing winner’s circles at four tracks – Remington Park, Los Alamitos, Prairie Meadows in Iowa, and Canterbury in Minnesota. He has had 30 starts lifetime with 15 wins, three seconds and five thirds for career earnings of $852,121.
Only four horses of 120 had faster times at 220 yards Friday morning, the bullet work going to Late Train, who stopped the timer in 11.20, handily; Memories of Lil Hero, 11.33, handily; Who Ra, 11.42, handily from the gate; and Llano Senator, 11.47, handily from the gate.

- SLM Big Daddy Stakes for 3-year-olds-and-up, going 550 yards on Saturday, March 16
- Grade 2, Eastex Stakes for 3-year-olds-and-up, 350 yards on Saturday, March 23
- Restricted Grade 2, Mr Jet Moore Stakes for Oklahoma-breds, 3-year-olds-and-up, 350 yards on Thursday, April 4
- Grade 2, Bob Moore Memorial Stakes, 3-year-olds-and-up, 300 yards, Saturday, April 23
- Restricted Grade 1, Sooner State Stakes, Oklahoma-breds, 3-year-olds-and-up, 400 yards, Saturday, April 20
- Grade 2, AQHA Challenge Championship, 3-year-olds-and-up, 440 yards, Sunday, May 12
- Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes, Oklahoma-breds, 3-year-olds-and-up, 400 yards, Monday, May 27
- Grade 1 Remington Park Invitational Championship (by invitation only), 3-year-olds-and-up, 440 yards
Owned and bred by Michael Teel of Columbia, Mo., Ajs High won the Eastex Stakes, Mr Jet Moore Stakes and the Sooner State Stakes in 2016 at Remington Park and the Remington Park Derby in 2015.
The 2019 Remington Park Quarter Horse season begins Friday, March 8, and continues for 50 dates, through Saturday, June 1.
