Ryansmanonthemoon Rallies To Win $85,000 New Mexico Horse Breeders' Association Stakes

SUNLAND PARK, NM—FEBRUARY 16, 2019—With a strong rally under jockey Mauro Salcedo, Ryansmanonthemoon got up over Cd Mamas Boy by a neck in the $85,000 New Mexico Horse Breeders' Association Stakes Saturday afternoon at Sunland Park. Cd Flash And Fame was a head back in the blanket finish to take third. It was a trifecta for leading sire First Moonflash who got the top three finishers.

Coming off a win in the Shue Fly Stakes(RG2) on January 26, Ryansmanonthemoon went to the post as the 7-5 favorite. As far back as 1-½ lengths early in the race after getting bumped at the start, the son of AQHA Racing champion sire First Moonflash completed the 400 yards in :18.942 seconds, a 106 speed index with a 25 mph tailwind.

Trainer Cynthia Gonzalez conditions the 3-year-old for owner-breeders Jimmy Negrete and Jimmy Vazquez. Bred from the Man On The Money mare Girlonthego, Ryansmanonthemoon picked up $51,000 to increase his bankroll to $193,917. He has compiled a (12) 4-2-0 record.

Runner-up Cd Mamas Boy races for owner Daniel Ramirez and trainer Jimmy Guerra. Jesse Levario rode the First Moonflash gelding out of Mama Rosa B by Corona Cartel. Bred by Cynthia Dick, the graded-placed runner increased his bankroll to $106,214 after pocketing $17,000 for second-place in the NMHBA Stakes.

Also bred by Cynthia Dick, and trained by Jimmy Guerra, Cd Flash and Flame races for owner German Amaya. Hector Aldrete was aboard the First Moonflash colt out of Famous Phoebe by Dash Ta Fame. He earned $8,500 for the effort.

Cm Rowdy James, Tooflashforyou, Freedom Flash, J Gatsby, Easy Over The Moon, Igotmybiggirljeanson and Nevado Cartel completed the field.

Live racing resumes on Sunday at 12:50 p.m. The featured 8th race is the 17th running of the $85,000 La Coneja Stakes at 6 furlongs. Top flight New Mexico-bred females will run. Tijuana, Fast Gator and African Heat are among the fast ones.
