TQHA Repurchase Records Top Training Time at Retama Park Friday

SELMA, TX—FEBRUARY 1, 2019—Jess Dashin Along,a $6,500 repurchase for owner/breeder Pete Scarmardo at the 2018 TQHA Yearling Sale posted the fastest time from 10 schooling races conducted today (Friday) at Retama Park.

One of five winners saddled Friday by trainer Leon Bard, Jess Dashin Along completed the 250 yards in :13.77 seconds, in Race 2 run under mostly cloudy skies and a temperature of 64 degrees.

Jockey Francisco Calderon was aboard the son of multiple stakes sire Down N Dash from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Marcy, a sister to Firecracker Futurity(G2) winner Big Dashing Perry. This is the family of AQHA Racing Champion First To Flash.

Trainer E. Luna, Jr. saddled A Painted Dynasty to the second fastest clocking of :13.83 seconds in Race 8. The son of world champion sire FDD Dynasty sold for $15,000 at the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale.

Sold in the Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for The Mixer Ranch consignment, the bay colt is from an unraced Pyc Paint Your Wagon sister to Champion of Champions(G1) winner Mr Pyc To You and Speedhorse Futurity(G1) winner First Painted Sign. J. Martinez had the riding assignment.

Multiple Grade 1 sire Freighttrain B got the first of three winners on Friday's training card when Baby Freightrain won Race 3 in :13.86 seconds to record the third fastest time.

Trainer Jorge Barrera conditions the $25,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate out of the grade 2-placed Carters Cartel mare Bay Ba Licious. Bred by 2018's AQHA Racing leading breeder's Grant Farms, LLC, Baby Freightrain is from the family of multiple graded winner Rock N Strawfly.

Freighttrain B's second winner, Train Of Diamonds is a $13,500 LQHBA Yearling graduate racing for Mary G. Thompson. Also trained by Bard and ridden by Calderon, Train Of Diamonds recorded the fifth fastest time of :13.97 seconds in Race 9.

Other sires with winner's on Friday's training card were Coronas Leaving You, Furyofthewind, Highest Fire, Make It Anywhere and Prospect To The Top.

Gary W. Hartstack led owners with two winners, Leon Bard lead trainers with five winners and Francisco Calderon rode six winners.
