Hes A Bugin Digs In For Holiday Handicap Victory

PORTLAND, OR—DECEMBER 23, 2018—Forwarded placed, Hes A Bugin moved between horses then dug-in under jockey Robert Burney to defeat Heza Gamer by a neck in the $13,450 Holiday Handicap (not black type) Sunday afternoon at Portland Meadows. L Bar D Bonnie Lee finished half-a-length back off the inside rail to get third.

Saddled by trainer Jose Rosales Gomez, Hes A Bugin covered the 870 yard wet-fast race course in :46.014 seconds, a 95 speed index, to pick up his 11th career win. The $6,725 winners' purse brings the 6-year-olds earnings total to nearly $50,000.

It was the third win at this meet for the Gilberto Madrigal owned son of Thoroughbred sire Sixthirteen. Hes A Bugin was fifth in the $100,000 Grade 1 Cox Ranch Distance Challenge Championship at Los Alamitos Race Course two races back.

Margaret Dee Linger bred Hes A Bugin in Oregon from the Splash Bac mare Missy Nickle Bac.

Jockey David Martin has the riding call aboard runner-up Heza Gamer, a son of Game Patriot out of Sneak Bac by Splash Bac. Scott Raley conditions the Oregon bred for Connie Chumbley. Bred by Gary Cumbley, Hesa Gamer earned $3,363 to raise his earnings total to $12,388.

Third-place finisher L Bar D Bonnie Lee races for owner Hernan Torres and trainer Hector Magallanes. Eduardo Gutierrez-Sosa rode the Giorgino filly out of the Dash Home Deb by Strawfly Special. F. Darrel and Linda Sanders bred the multiple stakes-placed 4-year-old in Oregon. She has earned $17,466.

Flyin Rocks, Quattro Dude, Hyho Travio and Eyes Movin completed the field.
