Champion Painted Turnpike Scores 14th Consecutive Victory in Sunday's Green Country Handicap

CLAREMORE, OK—OCTOBER 14, 2018—Painted Turnpike-PT has not lost a race in nearly two years. On Sunday the APHA son of leading Quarter Horse sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon got his 14th straight win by defeating Moores Rock Flash by half-a-length in the $12,917 Green Country Handicap at Will Rogers Downs.

Under jockey Cody Smith the bay horse covered the 350 yards on a sloppy (sealed) racetrack in :17.745 seconds, a 90 speed index. It was the 26th career win from 29 starts for Painted Turnpike and the $8,220 winners' purse boosted his lifetime bankroll to $462,345.

Matt Whitkiller conditions the APHA racing champion for owner/breeder Nolan Pevehouse. He is out of the SF Royal Quick Flash mare High Class Turnpike.

Runner-up Moore Rock Flash-PT, a son of Sm Country Snowman, races for owner Greg Thurman and trainer Gary Walker. Chris Dooly bred the black gelding from the Sweet First Down mare By By Spots. He earned $2,500 to bring his earnings mark to $42,947. Justin Klaiber had the riding call.

Catch Jessie If Ucan-AP finished 2-¾ lengths back to take third for owner Robert D Patton. Orrin Cogburn conditions the 8-year-old Jess Shake Em Up mare from the Heza Fast Man mare Catch If Catch Can. Ridden by Daniel Torres, the she earned $1,375. Glen Wilkson bred the $52,743 earner in Texas.

Bp Apollitical Sun was fourth. Bully Pulpit was scratched.
