ALTOONA, IA—OCTOBER 13, 2018—Aqua Flash responded well under jockey Roberto Valero, flying home down the outside rail to catch fastest qualifier Little Kool Belle by a nose in the $251,514 Valley Junction Futurity Saturday night at Prairie Meadows. Apollitical Mogul finished three-quarter back to take third.

Coming off a troubled third place effort to Little Kool Belle in the September 29 trials, Aqua Flash bounced tonight to complete the 350 yards in :17.433 seconds, a 102 speed index over a sloppy (sealed) racetrack. It was back-to-back stakes wins for the Shawna Manriquez trainee who won the Prairie Meadows Juvenile Challenge on September 15th.

A daughter of champion sire First Moonflash, Aqua Flash races for owner Thomas Scheckel. McColee Land & Livestock LLC bred the gray filly in Utah from the First Down Dash mare Aquafina, a sister to world champion Wave Carver and three-time champion Ocean Runaway.

Aqua Flash has compiled a (7) 5-0-1 record this season and used the $100,606 winners' purse to boost her earnings past $204,500. She was also a finalist in the Grade 1 $1.2 million Heritage Place Futurity(G1) in June at Remington Park.

Fourth in the Heritage Place Futurity(G1) two races back, runner-up Little Kool Belle earned $42,757 for her second-place effort. Jorge Torres rode the daughter of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon for trainer Stacy Charette-Hill. The Oklahoma homebred, from the Mr Jess Perry mare Little Kool Barbie, races for Charette-Hill and Leann Burns. She has banked $131,396 this year.

Tom and Bill Maher's Apollitical Mogul earned $25,151 for finishing third. Jason Olmstead conditions the daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess out of the Corona Cartel mare Cash Cartel. Still a maiden from seven starts, the bay filly was second in the North Central QHRA Futurity in August. Ridden by jockey Nakia Ramirez, Apollitical Mogul has earned $39,400.

Miss Energy P, The Bald Eagle, Vf Wheely Favorite, Apollitical Doll, Pamplonna, Cartels High and Thisbetterwork completed the field.
