Streak Jase Extends Win Streak to Three in Covered Bridges Stakes at Prairie Meadows

ALTOONA, IA—OCTOBER 13, 2018—Streak Jase prevailed as the favorite in the $25,000 Covered Bridges Stakes at Prairie Meadows, but the winner may have had to run farther than the 870-yard distance to capture the victory.

Streak Jase ($5.60) and jockey Cerapio Figueroa were in fourth place early and were carried out 10-wide around the turn as several horses to the inside drifted out. The pair finished in 46.316 and earned a speed index of 89.

The 7-year-old gelding has won his last three races and has won six of his last seven efforts. He also won the IZYK Stakes at Arapahoe but competed in claiming events at Remington this spring.

Streak Jase is trained by Zachary Quezada, owned by Ramon Trejo, and was bred by Jackie Brown in Oklahoma. He is by Streak and Dash and is out of the Okey Dokey Dale mare Go To Okey.

Wicked Valentine improved from fifth place early in the race to finish in second place, a length and a quarter behind the winner. Lucas Constantin had the call today for trainer Charley Hunt. Brad and Ann Tate bred the 7-year-old in Oklahoma, by One Famous Eagle, out of the First Down Dash mare Only the Wicked.

This was the third start in the Covered Bridges Stakes for Wicked Valentine and his best performance in the race. He has placed for qualified for multiple graded stakes and has earned $158,634 in his career. He has finished in the money in 12 of his 19 career starts at 870 yards.

Tru Lee Quick and Marcus Swiontek finished in third place, over a length behind Wicked Valentine. Tru Lee Quick is a 4-year-old filly by La Jollaroid, out of Watch Im Quick, by Quick Action. She was bred by her owner, Duane Swingley, and is trained by Karin Yike.

Tru Lee Quick was making just her third start around the turn. She won her first attempt at 870-yards in an optional claiming event at Prairie Meadows and defeated the field by six lengths, including Wicked Valentine.

Completing the field were Hiclass Man, Rock Wit Cha Baby, Blue Eyed Andy and Baby You a Song. Mr Jess Cruzin, Snow Phoenix, Streakin in the City and The Designer were scratched.
