Faster Then U, Fastest In La Fiesta Quarter Horse Futurity Trials

ALBUQUERQUE, NM—SEPTEMBER 8, 2018—Faster Then U, an Oklahoma-bred son of Ivory James owned by the Faster Then U Partners, is the fastest qualifier to the September 23, $250,000-est. La Fiesta Quarter Horse Futurity at Albuquerque Downs.

Trained by Jimmy Padgett and sent to post as the 11-10 favorite, Faster Then U on Saturday won the second of four 400-yard trials by 2-¼ lengths in :19.522. Alonso Rivera rode the brown gelding, who was winning for the second time in four starts.

Faster Then U was bred by Brian L. Gunder, and he was a $70,000 purchase at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. The gelding was coming off of a one-length victory as the even-money favorite in a 350-yard, $16,000 maiden-special-weight dash at Albuquerque on July 29.

He is out of the Leaving Memories mare Send Me The Candy.

Significant Royal, a royally-bred son of First Down Dash from champion Significant Heart by Corona Cartel, broke his maiden by two-lengths in the opening trial for trainer Jesus Carrete to get the second fastest tie of :19.943 seconds.

A. Wade Helton paid $20,000 at the Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale for the Abigail Kawananakoa California-bred colt. Kicking off his career at Remington Park he finished off the board in four starts there before finishing a close second in Maiden race at Albuquerque on August 25. Juan Pulido had the riding call.

World champion sire FDD Dynasty sired three qualifiers and champion sire First Moonflash got two qualifiers.
