Bugn West(#5), under jockey Tyson Lusk, defeats Hez Fabulous (#4) in the WRH Open Futurity Juvenile Saturday at Sweetwater Downs.

ROCK SPRINGS, WY—SEPTEMBER 8, 2018—Tyson Lusk guided Bugn West to his second consecutive victory on Saturday in the $7,000 WRH Open Futurity Juvenile (not black-type) at Sweetwater.

The duo led from gate to wire and covered 350 yards in 18.276 to earn a 74 speed index.

Bugn West ($10.20) is trained by Travis Lusk for owner Reggie Anger. The previous win was the gelding’s first in five lifetime starts, and it also came in Rock Springs, but at 330 yards.

Bugn West is a 2-year-old gray gelding by Wagons West, out of Ms Fancy Fame, by Mr Fancy Fame. He was bred in Utah by Wood Stock Stables, Inc.

Though he did not run in trials, Bugn West met the third condition of the WHR Juvenile, preference by lifetime earnings. Bugn West has now earned $5,034 and has won two of his six career efforts.

Finishing a neck behind the winner was Hez Fabulous, with Todd Thomas aboard. The FDD Dynasty gelding is trained by Jay Pitcher for George and Judy Weldon. The Weldons also bred Hez Fabulous in Utah, out of the Hawkinson mare Shes Fabulous.

Hez Fabulous finished sixth in his futurity trial on August 25 and is still a maiden after six lifetime starts.

Ella Diabla and Oscar Cervantes completed the photo finish trifecta. It was the eighth career start for the Wave Carver filly, and her fifth appearance in the money. She had previously broken her maiden in July at Wyoming and finished third in her more recent start, an allowance in Rock Springs.

Ella Diabla was the second leading money earner in the field prior to the race and now has earnings of $5,285. She is trained by Jessie Villegas for owners Jerry and Cheri Cook, who also bred the filly in Wyoming, out of Hawks Special Angel, by Form Ten Ninty.

Completing the field were Hes Never Telling, Class Leader, Rgr Another First, Groupie Doll, Eagle Runner, Diamond of Coronado and Hesrockinthehouse.
