Mommas Dynasty Executes The Plan To Perfection In Los Alamitos Debut

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—SEPTEMBER 7, 2018—Edward and Von Zae McNelis' Mommas Dynasty enjoyed her Los Alamitos debut, as the filly by FDD Dynasty rallied from a half-length back during the early going to win by a nose over Allyson Wonderland in the $15,000 The Plan Handicap at odds of 11-1 on Friday night.

Ridden by Eduardo Nicasio from post number five, Mommas Dynasty broke a step behind Allyson Wonderland before hitting her stride in the second half of the 350-yard dash.

Bred in Idaho by the McNelis, Mommas Dynasty went on to cover the distance in :17.888, while picking up her second career win in seven starts. She had previously raced at Sandy Downs in Idaho Falls, Energy Downs in Gillette, Wyoming, and Weber Downs in Ogden, Utah – racing in great form at every one of those stops.

"She's run in the Northwest and I've trained for the McNelis the last couple of years," said winning trainer Monty Arrossa. "This year Jordan and Jessica Hadley had the horse in Utah and they did a great job breaking her and running in several futurities up there. She qualified and ran well there. They shipped her down here and we've had her for about a month. She's settled in great. They deserve all the credit for doing a great job getting her ready. We just had to school her a little bit and lead her over." The Idaho-bred ran second in the Cowboys Juvenile Stakes at Energy Downs and was third in the Hadley/Giles Memorial Futurity at Weber Downs. She finished third in the IQHA Idaho Cup Futurity in her most recent start at Sandy Downs prior to The Plan. Mommas Dynasty, who earned $8,250 for this win, will now be pointed to the Wild West Futurity trials to be held on October 7.

"All four of the horses we had in this race tonight are in the Wild West Futurity trials. All but one have won multiple races so we put them in here to get them their first out under the lights."

With this victory, Mommas Dynasty is a multiple winner herself and her lifetime earnings now stand at $21,724. In this race, Arrossa also saddled two-time winners Forever A Legacy, Dashing Candy Girl, and Bo Jaxon.

Blaine Bateman's Allyson Wonderland led for most of the race and had to settle for second place money of $3,375. The Apollitical Jess filly finished second in the Cowboys Futurity at Energy Downs in late June. She was sixth to Cole Man 47 in the John Deere California Juvenile Challenge last month.

The complete order of finish is as follows: Mommas Dynasty, Allyson Wonderland, Chasin Harm, Ladys A Cartel, Yoffi, Dashing Candy Girl, Babe Watchin, Bo Jaxon, and Forever A Legacy.

Friday's card also featured allowance victories from Reliance Ranches' Rip Tide and Larry Stark's Jess A Cowboy. The latter won the He Flys Handicap here last year and most recently finished second to Newport Coaster in an allowance test at 550 yards on July 7.

Meanwhile, the Mike Robbins-trained Rip Tide was making his 2018 debut. The horse by Corona Cartel was impressive in his return, winning the 330-yard race in a solid time of :16.654. Rip Tide also won his final start of 2017 before going on the shelf for more than a year.
