Dahteste Gets First Stakes Victory In Elko QH Derby Win

ELKO, NV—SEPTEMBER 3, 2018—Christine Hudson's royally bred filly Dahteste scored her first stakes victory on Monday when she defeated Striven by a half-a-length in the $22,500 Elko Quarter Horse Derby at the Elko County Fair.

Ridden by jockey Leonardo Gonzalez, Dahteste completed the 400 yards in :20.119 seconds, equaling a 92 speed index, pocketing the winners' purse valued at $9,000.

Trainer Riley Moosman conditions the daughter of One Famous Eagle from the Strawfly Special mare Lady Heart Of Gold. She entered the final off the fastest qualifying time in the August 26 trials.

A Texas homebred for Ms. Hudson, Dahteste is a sister to stakes winner and All American Futurity(G1) runner-up One Fabulous Eagle and stakes winner and G2-placed Eagle On The Fly, has compiled a (8) 3-0-3 record and banked $17,292. She was third in the Sandy Downs Distaff Challenge in July.

California-bred Striven earned broke out at the start but turned in a gallant effort to finish second and earn $4,500. Owned-and-trained by Inoel Chavez, Striven was ridden by jockey Pedro Gonzalez. The multiple stakes-placed son of Stel Corona was bred by Edward C. Allred. The sorrel gelding out of Motherless by A Classic Dash has earned $17,505.

Krash Your Party, a gelding by second-crop sire Krash Cartel, finished three-quarters back to pick up $2,250 for third. Ricardo Castillo trains the 3-year-old for owner BNB Racing, Inc. Triple K Farms bred the multiple stakes winner in Texas from the Brimmerton mare Hasta La Veesta. He has earned $32,6778.

Lil Red Wave, Senor Call, Easy Blue Vodka, Chasin Carter, The Right Version, Juno Jess and Little Miss Diesel completed the field.
