Fastest Qualifier Anasttasia Returns to Win Iowa Double Gold Futurity

ALTOONA, IA—SEPTEMBER 1, 2018—Fastest qualifier Anasttasia has proven her affinity for the Prairie Meadows surface; the Texas-bred filly is now two for two in Altoona after winning the trial and final for the $150,565 Iowa Double Gold Futurity.

Anasttasia ($4.80) was the post-time favorite following her maiden-breaking win in her trial that resulted in the fastest qualifying time to the final. Bonifacio Quiroz returned to ride again in the final, and the pair posted a final time of 17.671 and a speed index of 94 for the 350-yard event.

The daughter of The Louisiana Cartel now has two wins in six lifetime starts and earnings of $86,837. She had previously qualified for the $479,196 TQHA Sale Futurity (RG3) at Retama in July.

Anasttasia is trained by Clinton Crawford for owner Jorge Haddad, who also bred the filly in Texas out of the multiple graded stakes placed mare Las Alamitos, by First Down Dash.

Second-place finisher Choochoowannaboogie had posted the third fastest time as the winner of the third and final trial. He was the post-time favorite in his trial despite making his fourth career start as a maiden. The gelded son of Freighttrain B raced three times at Remington before his Prairie Meadows debut.

Roberto Valero rode Choochoowannaboogie for the first time in their trial win and returned for the runner-up prize in the final.

Choochoowannaboogie is trained by Shawna Manriquez for owner Harley Moser. He was bred in Oklahoma by Lake and Ledona Newcomb, out of the Shazoom mare Zooming Affair.

Only a neck separated Choochoowannaboogie from third-place finisher Cashair and jockey Nakia Ramirez. Cashair was fourth in his trial and became the eighth fastest qualifier.

The Dashair gelding is still a maiden in seven career starts, but has made two stakes appearances. In addition to the Iowa Double Gold, he qualified to the $146,000 Mystic Lake Northlands Futurity at Canterbury Park in July.

Cashair is trained by Jason Olmstead for owner Leo Butell, who also bred the gelding in Kansas, out of Southern Fast Cash, by Heza Fast Man.

Completing the field were Hr Back N the Day, Sweet Bab of Return, Another Overdraft, Decapi Kid, That’s So Fetch, Hr Meant to Be and Make This My Favorit.
