Brindis Cruz Dominates Big Sky Select Breeders' QH Futurity Trials

GREAT FALLS, MT—JULY 15, 2018—Brindis Cruz was the much the best on Sunday when he broke his maiden by four-lengths to set the fastest qualifying time for the Big Sky Select Breeders' QH Futurity at Great Falls. The $5,000-added final will be contested on Saturday, July 28. Trial participants must have went through the Big Sky Select Breeders Futurity Sale.

Ridden by jockey Leuis Zackerly, Brindis Cruz completed the 300 yards course in :15.875 seconds to set the top qualifying mark. Trainer Jess R. Matt saddled the son of multiple stakes sire Brindis Por Cayenne for owner Lana Matt. Bred in Wyoming by K.C. Carden, the sorrel gelding is out of GM Check Her Out by Check Him Out.

Last month Brindis Cruz finished second in the $64,825 Wyoming All Breeds Association Futurity at Energy Downs. He has compiled a (3) 1-2-0 record and banked $11,547.

Trainer Jess Matt and owner Lana Matt teamed again to get the second fastest qualifier Kay Cross Conman who posted a three-quarter length win in the first trial. Jockey Fernando Gamez rode the son of All American Futurity(G1) sire Volcom from the Onanotherhigh mare Kay Cross Kylie. Wagonhammer Ranch bred the bay gelding in Wyoming.

Kay Cross Conman broke his maiden in the trial while completing the 300 yards in :15.984 seconds.
