Di Southeen James Is Fastest in Trials for G.C.F.A. July Maiden Classic

FREDERICKSBURG, TX—JULY 7, 2018—Di Southeen James ($21.80) won the second of of six trials on the card at Gillespie for the $7,500-added G.C.F.A. July Maiden Classic and posted the fastest qualifying time of :17.569 for the 350-yard race. He defeated post-time favorite Kuhl Cash by a length. The final is scheduled for July 22, 2018.

The 4-year-old Jesse James Jr gelding was ridden by Jose Martinez for trainer Elpidio Luna, Jr. and owner Jesse Arreola. He was bred in Texas by Isbell Charolais, out of the Southern Cartel mare Kix N Giggles. Di Southeen James had ten lifetime starts prior to Saturday’s trial, with two second-place finishes.

Ad Tres Coronas ($7.40) won the opening on the card to post the second fastest qualifying time of :17.632 for the 350-yard race. The 4-year-old debuted in his trial on Saturday night with Francisco Mendez aboard. The duo defeated Ms Famous Dash Back, the third fastest qualifier, by a neck.

Ad Tres Coronas is trained by Santiago Riojas, Jr. for Double H Racing Investment LLC. The was bred in Texas by Antonio Delgado, Jr, by Cooleo and out of Corona Three Six, by Tres Seis.

The third fastest qualifier, Ms Famous Dash Back, was second to Ad Tres Coronas in the first trial after dueling throughout the race and posted a time of 17.679. The 3-year-old filly has made many of her lifetime starts in stakes trials.

Ms Famous Dash Back Is owned and trained by Raul E. Galvan; Victor Urieta, Jr. had the call. The daughter of One Famous Eagle was bred in Texas by Johnny Trotter, out of the Dash for Cash mare Dash Back To Me.
