Walk Off Steps Up In Fair Meadows Maturity Win

TULSA, OK—JULY 7, 2018—Coming off back-to-back claiming victories at Remington Park, 4-year-old Walk Off scored his first career stakes win Saturday night by defeating Shaky Hero by half-a-length in the $17,500 Faire Meadows Maturity in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Way To Go finished three-quarters back to take third-place.

Ridden by jockey Cody Smith, Walk Off completed the 350 yards in :17.603 seconds, a 94 speed index. It was the fourth career win in 11 starts for the son of champion sire Walk Thru Fire from the champion producing mare Jenuine Joy by Genuine Strawfly. The gelding is half-brother to All American Futurity(G1) winner Imperial Eagle.

Trainer R.L. Rick Robinson conditions the sorrel gelding for owner Darling Farms. Fredda Draper bred Walk Off in California. The $8,892 Fair Meadows Maturity winners' purse brings his earnings total to $$42,694.

Shaky Hero was a game second under jockey Daniel Torres for owner Regina Laymon and trainer Kenny Laymon. JK Running Horses LLC bred the Valiant Hero 5-year-old in Oklahoma from the Embrujo Fg mare Shaky Girl. The 5-year-old earned $3,464 for the effort. A five-time winner, he has made $77,343.

Third-place finisher Way To Go races for owner Jose Antonio Alvarado. Simon Moreno saddled the Spit Curl Jess 4-year-old out of Fly By The Mall by Strawfly Special. Bred by Irene Velasquez, Way To Go picked up $1,905. Jose Cisnerous was riding.

LD American Ivory, Ting Ting Tac, Veto and A Royal Country Man completed the field.
