Tempting Finale Much The Best in Firecracker Frolic Trials

IDAHO FALLS, ID—JULY 4, 2018—Tempting Finale rolled to an impressive 1-˝ length in the last of two trials Wednesday at Sandy Downs to set the top qualifying time for the Firecracker Frolic (not black type). The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Sandy Downs on Saturday, July 20th to vie for the winner's share of a $10,000-added purse in the 350 yard event.

Ridden by jockey Rene Gutierrez, Tempting Finale completed the 350 yards in :17.561 seconds, a 96 speed index, to record top mark. He was the first of three qualifiers saddled by trainer Garth Blattner.

CG Racing LLC and Mark Curtis own the Oklahoma-bred son of champion sire Tempting Dash from the Azoom mare Uzoom Corona. Bred by Stone Chase Stables LLC, Tempting Finale has won two of eight career starts and earned $3,882. He entered today's trial off a troubled effort in the EIHA/JHRA Derby June 24th at the Jerome County Fair.

Blattner's second qualifier, Little Miss Diesel, won the first trial under jockey Cordarelton Benn by a head over Wind Charged to get the second fastest time of :17.593 seconds, a 95 speed index.

An Idaho homebred racing for owner/breeders Neil and Jere Harris, Little Miss Diesel is a 3-year-old daughter of Carrington Beach from the Tr Dasher mare Rtm Lunch Money. This was the second consecutive win for the filly who failed to break her maiden in six starts last season, however she was a finalist in the Intermountain Futurity and the Hawthorne – IdaBet.com Futurity – Division 1. She has earned $4,753.

Blattner's final qualifier A Stubby Corona posted the 5th fastest time under jockey Rene Gutierrez. The 4-year-old mare is by champion sire The Louisiana Cartel from the First Wrangler mare Sing Of Pride. A home-bred for Les and Darla Barlow, multiple stakes qualifier A Stubby Corona is winless in 13 career starts.
