Chippewa Downs Hosts Pair of Non-Black Type Stakes on Sunday's Card

BELCOURT, ND—JULY 1, 2018—Miss Vals Easy Cash and Dawsons Affair scored wins at Chippewa Downs Sunday in a pair of non-black type stakes.

North Dakota Grass Roots Derby

Fastest qualifier Miss Vals Easy Cash returned on Sunday to post another dominating win in the $7,250 North Dakota Grass Roots Derby. Ridden by jockey Evan Herman the daughter of multiple stakes sire Such Easy Cash broke in front and extended her lead to 1-½ lengths to pocket the $3,045 winners' purse. No time was available for the race.

Trainer Terry Davis conditions the sorrel filly for owner/breeder John Bubel. A multiple stakes winner, from the Dashing Val mare Miss Salty Val, Miss Vals Easy Cash has compiled a (9) 4-1-2 record and banked more than $18,100. She won the Northern Plains Futurity last year at Chippewa.

Sweeter With Cash, a son of Such Easy Cash, was moved from third to second after Cat And Company was disqualified and placed fourth for lugging in. Leo Joe Herman saddled Sweeter Than Cash for owner Dennis Halverson. The gelding picked up $1,305 for his effort. Also bred by John Bubel, Sweeter Than Cash is out of Sweeter Than Rime by Major Rime.

Darrel Smith's homebred Dashing Company was moved to third. Cole Wilson conditions the Free Company gelding out of Dashing Ten by Dash To Chivato. He earned $943 for the effort. Jeramie Fennell was riding.

Completing the official order of finish were Cat And Company, Special Red Charmer, Jennas Easy Victory, First Prize River and Carmella Rose.

Chippewa Downs Open Quarter Horse Futurity

Dawsons Affair drew off from a field of four to win the $3,750 Chippewa Downs Open Quarter Horse Futurity by 1-¼ lengths Sunday afternoon. March Reno was second, another 1-¼ lengths in front of Hasta Be Kwik. No time was reported for the 300 yard race.

Shipped over from Canterbury Park, trainer Jim Fleming saddled Dawsons Affair to his first career win for owner Magnificent 7. Bred by Karen Glasser, the son of three-time champion Prospect To The Top has compiled a (4) 1-0-1 record and earned nearly $3,000.

Jockey Zack Ziegler had the riding call aboard the bay gelding out of Little Love Affair by Rare News.

March Reno, a son of champion sire Bigtime Favorite, picked up $750 for second. Cole Wilson trains the gelding for owner Bryson Dewald. Jeramie Fennell was the rider aboard the Texas-bred from the Some Dasher mare Sweethearts Lady.

Hasta Be Kwik, a North Dakota bred son of Hast Be Fast, races for owner-trainer Junior Dolphus. Francisco Estrada rode the Legacy Ranch bred gelding out of Crazy Kwik by Its Royal Time. He earned $600.

Freefall N Cowboy was fourth. Oh Angelina was scratched.
