TULSA, OK—Eye Eye Captain, under jockey Rolando Raudales, drove to a one-length win over Whosgonegirl in the $17,500 Belles Stakes Saturday night at Fair Meadows. Diamonds For Codee finished a nose back in the show position.
Saddled by trainer Guillermo Valdivia, Eye Eye Captain completed the 350 yards, over wet fast (sealed) racetrack, in :17.551 seconds to earn a 96 speed index. It was the third career win for the Oklahoma homebred racing for owner/breeder David N. Clonts.
Florida-bred Whosgonegirl picked up $2,910 for her second-place effort. Owned-and-trained by Antonio Martinez, the 4-year-old One Sweet Jess filly was ridden by jockey James Flores. Bred by Buddy and Patty Newsome, Whosgonegirl is out of the Corona Cartel mare Whosleaving Corona. She has banked nearly $40,000 in 13 career starts.
Brandon Reystead and R.C. Howell's Oklahoma homebred Diamonds For Codee dueled early but weakened under jockey Cody Wainscott to pick up $1,877 for third. Trained by Howell, the daughter of Carters Cartel is out of This Dashing Is Flying by Fishers Dash. She has earnings of $46,670. S. Elarton is the co-breeder with Reystead and Howell.
Effortless Chic Desi finished fourth, followed by dead-heat for fifth between Double Eagle and Jc Wild Rose. Completing the field were Splash A Tac, Get There, Eurapollitical Girl and A Mine Of Our Own.
