Jess Un Sies Mas Breaks Maiden, Set Top Mark in Cherry Creek Futurity Trialss

AURORA, CO—JUNE 29, 2018—Jess Un Sies Mas, a son of leading sire Apollitical Jess, broke his maiden at Arapahoe Park Friday afternoon while posting to top qualifying time for the Cherry Creek Futurity.

Under jockey Malouly Rodriguez, Jess Un Sies Mas rolled to a one-length win over Shelias First Corona in the last of four 330 yard trials for Colorado-bred 2-year-olds. His time of :17.184 seconds, into a 15 mph headwind, was the fastest for the day.

Owner-breeder Hugo Barron-Sierra and trainer Jose Manuel Barron bookended the futurity qualifying list by also getting Best Regards For You, a son of Chicks Regard, into the final with the 10th fastest time after winning the opening trial.

Finishing fourth in troubled first start in the June 1 Rocky Mountain Futurity trials, Jess Un Sies Mas was second by a head in an Arapahoe maiden race 10 days later. He lugged out bad in both races, but under new rider Rodriguez today, the sorrel colt ran a clean race to get his first win and top time.

Jess Un Sies Mas is out of the Tres Seis mare Seis Star Glitter, a multiple stakes-placed daughter of Tres Sies who is also a homebred for Barron Sierra. As a 2-year-old she was second in the Rocky Mountain Futurity(RG3) and a finalist in the Mile High Futurity(G3) at Arapahoe Park.

Shelias First Corona hung on for the second fastest time of :17.597 seconds. The homebred daughter of First Special Puna broke best under jockey Ramiro Garcia but could not hold off fastest qualifier Jess Un Seis Mas.

Julio Corral conditions the black filly, out of Corona Memories by Corona For Me, for owner/breeder Wendy Gaddis. She was also second in her only other start, a maiden race on June 10th at Arapahoe.

Manuel Orozco was the only other trainer with multiple qualifiers, getting 5th fastest Moshi Yoshi and 9th fastest Capos Sassy Laaydee. For a complete list of Cherry Creek Futurity qualifiers, times, sires, dams, owners, breeders, trainers and jockeys CLICK HERE.
