Ali Babe Foose Gets Up In Ed Burke Juvenile Win

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—JUNE 24, 2018—Ali Babe Foose dug in late under jockey Eduardo Nicasio to get up by a head over Corona By Corona at the wire in the $30,000 Ed Burke Juvenile Invitational Sunday night at Los Alamitos Race Course.

Conditioned by trainer Jaime Gomez, Ali Bab Foose completed the 350 yards in :17.732 seconds to earn a 91 speed index over a fast racetrack. It was the second win in two starts for the royally bred son of champion Foose from the multiple Grade 1 producing Strawfly Special mare Babe On The Fly.

Owner Cesar Dabdoub paid $53,000 for Ali Babe Foose (sold under the name of Karl Strauss) at the 2017 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale last summer. Breeder Steve D. Burns, DVM consigned the bay colt in the Burns Ranch consignment. The $16,500 Juvenile winners' purse boosted Ali Babe Foose's earnings total to more than $22,000.

Ali Babe Foose is a brother to Ruidoso Derby(G1) winner Rock You and Ruidoso Derby(G1) runner-up Glock.

Keith Nellesen's Corona By Corona picked up $6,750 for his second-place effort. Paul C. Jones trains the son of leading living sire Corona Cartel from the multiple stakes winning Jess Louisiana Blue mare Louisana Corona. Ridden by Cesar DeAlba, Corona By Corona earned $6,750 for the effort.

Sheza Dashing Pro, a daughter of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon, finished half-a-length back in third for owners Jorge Padilla and Margarito Farias. Padilla also conditions the Washington-bred filly from the First Down Dash mare First Down Dream. A half-sister to multiple Los Alamitos stakes winner Ima Chickie Two, Sheza Dashing Bro was bred by Quarter K Inc. She earned $3,750.

Dg Favorite, Anas Image, Corona Krush, Bf Farmhand, New Girl, Tres Delight and Kates Bowtie completed the field.
