Yoffi, under jockey Jorge Bourdieu, easily sets the top qualifying time in the AQRA Spring Fling Futurity trials at Turf Paradise on Saturday.

PHOENIX, AZ—APRIL 7, 2018—Two trials at 300 yards produced the field for the $10,000 added AQRA Spring Fling Futurity at Turf Paradise on Saturday. The top three fastest qualifiers came out of the second trial, led by Ralph Fales trainee Yoffi and her time of 15.615.

Yoffi ($4.60) was ridden by Jorge Bourdieu, who also guided Imperial Eagle to a win in his Bank of America Turf Paradise Championship Challenge trial earlier on the card.

The Stel Corona filly is a homebred for Martha Wells, bred in California out of the Walk Thru Fire mare Walking On Sunshine. Like many of the horses in the field, Yoffi made her first lifetime start in the Spring Fling trials.

Moonflash Deluxe and jockey Joseph Belloc, Jr finished a length behind Yoffi to be the second fastest qualifier with a time of 15.768.

Moonflash Deluxe, by First Moonflash, was bred by Grant Farms in Louisiana. The 2-year-old colt is out of Corona Deluxe, by Corona Cartel. He is owned by Yuriana Ramir and is trained by Ricardo Ramirez.

A Dash Of Salty finished third as the second-longest price on the board to be the third fastest qualifier at 15.910. The Dashin Bye gelding is out of Salty Account, by Salt Lake, and was bred by Russell Mowad in Louisiana. Martin Osuna had the riding call for trainer Havid Canez and owners Francisco Sepulveda and Jose Martinez Lopez.

The first of two trials produced four qualifiers, including the winner, Tyson Gay. Emilio Tapia and Tyson Gay ($8.20) finished in 15.916 to be the fourth fastest qualifier for trainer Roy Ronquillo.

Tyson Gay is a gelded son of Foose, out of the Hawkinson mare Hawk Kue Pie. He was bred in California by Steve Burns, DVM, and is owned by Jose Castellanos.
