Memories R Golden Has Top Time On Night One Of Remington Park Futurity Trials

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 5, 2018— Memories R Golden, a $10,000 Heritage Place September Yearling graduate, set the best time over 11 trials at 330 yards on Friday night, as five qualifiers were determined for the Remington Park Futurity. Memories R Golden handled the ninth trial of the evening in :16.447, a 013 speed index over a fast track.

A strong north wind howled throughout the 11 trials, ranging in strength from 21-24mph, providing a tailwind push for all competitors.

Memories R Golden won the ninth trial by three-quarters of a length under jockey Edwuin Lujan. Owned by Ricardo Morales of Roma, Texas and trained by Manuel Almanza, Memories R Golden led a trio of runners from the ninth trial that will go on to the Remington Park Futurity on April 21.

Memories R Golden is undefeated through two starts this season at Remington Park. A 2-year-old filly by Fantastic Corona Jr from the Grade 1 winning First Down Dash mare Tiny First Down, she was bred in Oklahoma by Thomas Bradbury and Vaughn Cook. This is the immediate family of stakes winners Exquisite Stride and First N Final.

Trainer Michelle Hurdle saddled Charlies Fury to a one-length win in the opening trial to get the second fastest clocking of :16.512 seconds.

Agustin Silva had the riding call aboard the homebred son of Furyofthewind for owner-breeders Tom and Kathleen McNally. Out of the Take Off Jess mare Jess Charlena, Charlies Fury was breakings his maiden in his second career start.

Jeaniologi, a Dominyun filly owned by Belle Vista Farms LLC, and Jess Let It B, a Valiant Hero homebred for Homer Hill finished second and third in the fastest trial to post the 3rd and 4th fastest times on Friday.

The final qualifier, Temptingsecretfly, by Tempting Dash, was second to Charlies Fury in the opening trial.

Restricted to eligible Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds, the Remington Park Futurity will be worth a total of $934,500 on April 21.

The second night of Remington Park Futurity trials are on Saturday, April 7, with the final 11 races on the 12-race program set to establish the five qualifiers that will join the five from Friday night. The first race Saturday is at 6pm.

Sunday racing will feature trials for the $347,400 Remington Park Derby. The first race Sunday is at 1:30pm. All times are Central.
