OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 5, 2018—A solid start by Knockemout Capi helped him take winning advantage of a huge opportunity when the gates opened for the $65,500 Mr Jet Moore Stakes on Thursday at Remington Park.
Favored AJs High reared and went high in the air when the field was dispatched. There was no such issue for Knockemout Capi who was in command throughout, winning the 350-yard race by a head.
Owned by Francisco Vega of Chicago and trained by Alfredo Gomez, Knockemout Capi broke well from his outside post. As Double Down and AJs High danced on the inside of the gate just prior to the start, it gave Knockemout Capi time to settle according to jockey Omar Reyes.
Reyes let Knockemout Capi handle his business as he crossed the finish line in :17.582 over the fast track. Gypsys Last Hero rallied for second while Valiant Rogue was another head back in third. AJs High lost rider Stormy Smith with his misbehaved start, as the 6-5 wagering favorite.
Away at 9-1 odds, Knockemout Capi paid $21.80 to win, $11.20 to place and $8.40 to show. Gypsys Last Hero paid $18.40 to place and $7.80 to show. Valiant Rogue returned $8.40 to show.
