TUCSON, AZ MARCH 17, 2018--Rillito Park hosted three stakes for Quarter Horses on Saturday's race card.

Red Beer Prevails in El Moro de Cumpas Derby

Red Beer, under jockey Luis Yescas Jr., broke clean and contended between rivals to get by half-a-length over of Miss First N Wild at the wire in the $20,500 El Moro de Cumpas Derby. Cartel Bad Boy finished a nose back in third.

Trainer Charles Acosta saddled the winner for owner Cynthia Rodriguez. The son of multiple stakes sire Coronas Leaving You raced over the 350 yards in :17.649 seconds, a 92-speed index.

Country music star Toby Keith's Dream Walkin Farms Inc. bred Red Beer in Oklahoma from the Latest Version mare Sister Shelley Rose. The brown colt broke his maiden today and pocketed the winners' share of the purse worth $11,275.

Runner-up Miss First N Wild entered the race with the second fastest time from the March 3rd trials. Phil Pinedo conditions the Arizona homebred filly for Pinedo Brothers Quarter Horses. Jockey Mark Jasso rode the First N Wild filly out of Wicked Colors by Runaway Colors. She eared $4,100 for the effort.

Third-place finisher Cartel Bad Boy is a California-bred son of Special Cartel owned by Francisco Monteverde and trained by Alvaro Monteverde. Jesus Osuna had the riding call to earn $2,050. Mariano Aguirre and Elba Romo are the breeder.

Fastest qualifier Pirteville Cartel finished fourth after bumping and breaking out at the start. Jay Collins, Mr Chicks Magnet and Krash The Cash completed the field. La Reynita Dash was scratched.

Dashing Brooks Wins El Moro de Cumpas Maturity

Posttime favorite Dashing Brooks drove to the lead between horses at the 1/8th pole to win the $20,500 El Moro de Cumpas Maturity by half-a-length Saturday afternoon. Forest Smoke was second, a nose in front of Frontera Special.

Jockey Jesus Osuna booted Dashing Brooks to a :19.717 clocking over the 400 yards to earn a 107-speed index. Trainer Tyler Gibbs conditions the 4-year-old gelding for owner Chad Richard.

The Utah homebred is by world champion One Dashing Eagle from the Brookstone Bay mare Brooks Midnight. The bay gelding has compiled a (13) 4-4-1 record and today's $11,275 winners' purse boosted his lifetime earnings to $36,731.

Jockey Andres Osuna rode runner-up Forrest Smoke for owner-trainer Eric Valenzuela. Mark and E.J. Thompson bred the 5-year-old Stel Corona colt in California from Secret Forest by Check Him Out. He earned $4,100 for the effort.

Frontera Special earned $2,050 for finishing third. Omar Cruz conditions the Genuine Strawfly mare for owner Roger Jimenez. Ridden by jockey Alejandro Ortega, Frontera Special was bred in New Mexico by Richard Franco. The 8-year-old mare is out of Jumanji by Noble Pride.

Kiss The Tears Away, Go Seis, Stockton Six, Dos Tocallos and One Fast Jess completed the field.

Caracortada Scores In El Moro de Cumpas Sprint

Under a vigorous hand ride by jockey Carlos Marquez, Caracortada rallied over Rebs A Rippin to win the $15,500 El Moro de Cumpas Sprint by half-a-length Saturday at Rillito Park. Askin For Trouble finished a neck back in third.

Trainer Vanessa Fuentes saddled the 7-year-old to victory for owner Socorro Vejar. The son of multiple stakes sire Azoom completed the 220 yards in a quick :11.785 seconds to earn a 105-speed index.

Bred in Arizona by Ramon Vejar, from the Judge Cash mare Classy Judgette, Caracortada picked up $8,525 to boost his career mark to more than $82,000. A multiple stakes winner, he has compiled a (20) 7-7-1 record.

Danny and Joseph Riesgo's Rebs A Ripin earned $3,100 for finishing second. Jockey Luis Yescas Jr. had the riding call for trainer Monica Ortega. Sharon Denham bred the son of Rebs Royal Dasher in Arizona from Guitar Superstition by Shazoom.

Pedro Urias Soto saddled third-place finisher Askin For Trouble for owner Armando Hernandez Muniz. Joseph Belloc Jr. rode the son of Onthewingsofglory. Bred in Louisiana by Dina Duplantis, DVM, Askin For Trouble is out of A Bardo Special by Look Forward, He earned $1,550 for the effort.

W R Cartel, El Remmy, Bright Eyed Vision, Valiant Meltdown and Red Storm Memories completed the field.
