CLAREMORE, OK—SEPTEMBER 24, 2017—Political Attraction got his second futurity win of the season Sunday when he defeated Bad Neighbor by a neck in the $282,552 Black Gold 350 Championship Futurity (RG3) at Will Rogers Downs. The pair of 2-year-olds entered the race was the top two qualifying spots from the September 10th trials.
It was another 2-˝ lengths back to third-place finisher Eos Trumpster.
Ridden by jockey James Flores, Political Attraction completed the 350-yard course in a quick :17.394 clocking to earn a 101-speed index into a 12-mph crosswind.
Coming of a win in the Grade 3 $214,000 Speedhorse Futurity just two races back the son of leading sire Apollitical Jess pocketed $113,021 today to bring his earnings total to $273,017. Political Attraction has now posted four consecutive wins for trainer John Weghorst and owner Rogelio Marquez, Jr.

Trainer Ramon Mendoza saddled runner-up Bad Neighbor for owner Mauro Mendoza. Daniel Torres rode the Country Chicks Man gelding out of The Kooch by First N Kool. Bred in Oklahoma by Dallas Pryor, Bad Neighbor has compiled a (6) 2-2-0 record this season. Fourth in the Grade 3 Speedhorse Futurity in July he picked up $48,034 today to push his bank account to $75,295.
Making just his fourth career start, the lightly raced Eos Trumpster races for owner Elite Oilfield Services and trainer Manuel Almanza Jr. The son of third-crop sire The Louisiana Cartel earned $31,081 for his third-place effort. Danny Joe Miller bred the gray gelding in Oklahoma from the Blushing Bug mare Bug Lover.
An additional $29,742 was paid out in stallion awards for today's Black Gold 350 Championship Futurity.
Admiral Sting, No Questions Now 15, Eos A Political Win, Tellem Im Rockin, Corona Razor, Mr Rushmore and Paint A Candy Cat completed the field.
