Jess Hot Remains Perfect 3-for-3 After New Mexico State Fair Quarter Horse Futurity Win

ALBUQUERQUE, NM—SEPTEMBER 23, 2017—The lightly raced Jess Hot kept his perfect 3-for-3 record in tact when he defeated Two Wines by a neck in the $289,993 New Mexico State Fair Quarter Horse Futurity Saturday night at Albuquerque. Hollywooodcrown was a neck back in a blanket finish to take third.

Ridden by jockey Agustin Silva and saddled by trainer Larry Chavez, Jess Hot completed the 400 yards in :19.850 seconds to pick-up the $144,996 futurity winner's purse. A homebred racing for owner/breeder Mike Abraham, Jess Hot has banked nearly $160,000 in his three starts.

Jess Hot’s dam, the unraced 12-year-old Corona Caliente mare Hot Babe Indy Suds, produced Hot Indy Chick, a full sister to Jess Hot who won last year’s $409,110 Zia Futurity (RG1) at Ruidoso Downs. A half-sister, the stakes-placed Cmon Jesses Girl, was a finalist in the 2012 Zia Futurity.

"We’ve always liked this horse," said Abraham. "He comes from a good family, and he's a big, nice-looking horse. We’ve always had high hopes for him."

Jess Hot didn’t make his debut until August 4, and he responded with a clear 1 3/4-length victory in a 330-yard, $20,000 maiden-special-weight dash for New Mexico-breds. The gelding won his State Fair Futurity trial by a half of a length on September 8.

"We waited on him before he made his first start, so we might just give him some time off after tonight and not race him again until sometime next year," Abraham said.

Doug Ruby's Two Wines finished with courage under jockey Cody Jensen to pick up the $57,999 for second. Justin Joiner conditions the Jesse James Jr filly out of Champagne Lane by Lanes Leinster. MJ Farms bred the sorrel filly, who was also a finalist in the RG2 New Mexican Spring Futurity last April. She has banked $91,506.

Owned-trained and bred by Fred Danley, third-place finisher Hollywoodcrown was ridden by Porfirio Cano. The daughter of Heza Motor Scooter, from the Gone Hollywood (TB) mare Hollywood Gone (TB), earned $38,424 for her effort.

Miles Of Flash, Jessa Diva and Riverside Flash completed the field. Bug Daddy Cartel, Gone Fishin, Jessies Gone, Masons Moon, Osbaldo Blue Diamond and Soxx Ar were all scratched.
