Country Boy 123 Easy Winner in All Canadian Classic

AJAX, ONT—SEPTEMBER 18, 2017—Country Boy 123 bounced off a second-place effort in the Bank of America Ajax Challenge Championship to defeat his nemesis One Famous Glass in Monday's $54,000(US) All Canadian Classic at Ajax Downs.

Under jockey Cory Spataro County Boy 123 rolled to a one-length win while completing the 350 yards in a quick :17.330 clocking, a 109-speed index with a 4-mph tailwind.

Trainer Bryn Robertson saddled the 4-year-old Country Chicks Man gelding to his 10th career win, from 17 starts, for owner Ruth Barbour. Bred in Michigan by Carolyn Bay, the multiple stakes winner picked up $12,202(US) to roll his earning mark to $134,562.

Out of the Dash Thru Traffic mare Very Dashin 123, the bay gelding is a four-time stakes winner including the Picov Maturity at Ajax last June.

One Famous Glass rallied late to get up at the wire a head in front of Panther Hero. Also, trained by Bryn Robertson, the son of leading sire One Famous Eagle was ridden by Tony Phillips.

Carol Robertson, Jaime Robertson and Dr. Charles Hall own the Texas-bred out of Quick Glass by Royal Quick Glass. Bred by the famed Burnett Ranches LLC he has banked more than $260,000 after picking up $6,101(US) today.

Just missing second, Panther Hero races for owner John Wilson and trainer Scott Reid. Carole Lampon bred the Valiant Hero 4-year-old in Ontario from the Panther Mountain mare Rona Mountain. Also a multiple stakes winner the picked up $4,280(US) today to push his earnings total past $101,000.

Fiesty Icon, Seis Zoom, Selective Memory, Fast Man Vic, Alakazaam, Countrys Comin Bac and Runaway Cause completed the field.
