Furr Wheelin Wins Third Straight Race, Thursday At Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 25, 2017—Furr Wheelin stayed perfect on his 2017 Remington Park season, winning his second race in as many starts on Thursday night. The victory in a $7,500-level claiming race also stretched his overall winning streak to three races.

Owned and bred in Oklahoma by Lisa Joneson of Shawnee, Okla. and trained by Luis Villafranco, Furr Wheelin was ridden to victory by Gonzalo Gutierrez. The 4-year-old gelding used a solid start to go right to the lead in the 550-yard race, pulling clear to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 27.273 seconds over the fast track. Dingus Oak was up for second with Little Jo Eagle along for third, 1-1/2 lengths behind the winner.

The winning streak of three races for Furr Wheelin started in November 2016 at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla. when he broke his maiden status. The betting favorite at 8-5 odds, Furr Wheelin paid $5.20 to win, $4 to place and $3.40 to show on Thursday night. Dingus Oak paid $9.80 to place and $6.40 to show. Little Jo Eagle paid $3.80 to show.

Furr Wheelin is by Furrtreeous from the Rare Form mare Runnin With Scissors. A winner of three races from seven career attempts, Furr Wheelin made $7,679 with the latest triumph to run his overall bankroll to $21,180.

The holiday racing week continues Friday, May 26 thru Memorial Day Monday, May 29. The first race Friday and Saturday, May 26 & 27 is at 6pm. Sunday racing on May 28 is at 1:30pm. Then the special holiday card on Memorial Day, May 29 starts at 3pm.

A series of four stakes races are set for Memorial Day, all for Oklahoma-breds, including: $61,800 FL Lady Bug Stakes for 2-year-olds at 330 yards; the $61,800 Easy Date Stakes for fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and older, at 350 yards; the $61,800 Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes for 3-year-olds and older at 400 yards; and the $50,000 Jack Brooks Stakes for 3-year-olds at 350 yards.
