PORTLAND, OR—SEPTEMBER 25, 2016—Portland Meadows opened its 70th anniversary season with a 10-race program on Sunday.

Sunday's opening card feataured a 300-yard, $4,100 allowance feature for Quarter Horses. Randy Dickerson's homebred Cm Whats Happening defeated a full field of 10. A 4-year-old daughter of Pyc Paint Your Wagon trained by Nick Lowe got her second career win from 10 starts.

Portland Meadows' Quarter Horse stakes schedule is topped by a pair of futurities, the 350-yard, $28,000-est. Far West Futurity on October 24; the 400-yard, $24,000-est. Portland Meadows Fall Derby on November 20; and the 400-yard, $27,000-est. Baxter Andruss Futurity (R) for Oregon-breds on December 18.

The track will also host the 440-yard, $20,000-added AQHA Portland Meadows Bonus Challenge Stakes on December 26. Parking and admission are free during the 37-day season, which runs through January 3.
