Fastest Qualifiers Win G.C.F.A. Maiden Classic and G.C.F.A. 79 & Under Speed Index Futurity

FREDRICKSBURG, TX—AUGUST 28, 2016—Lightly raced 6-year-old Ja Hot Pursuit battle to a half-length win over La Lotsa Lite Cartel in the $38,100 G.C.F.A. Maiden Classic (not black-type) Sunday afternoon at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds. Sing A Hot Tune finished a neck back for the show position.

After four off-the-board performances as a 2-year-old, Ja Hot Pursuit is now 2-for-2 as 4-year-old Ridden by jockey Manuel Gutierrez, the son of Gol covered the 350 yard course in Sunday in a quick :17.664 clocking into a 10 mph crosswind to earn a 98 speed index.

Adrian Huitron conditions the Texas-bred gelding for owner Jose Armando Perez, Jr. The $13,335 winner's purse boosted his earnings total to just over $14,500. Joe B. Allen bred Ja Hot Pursuit from the Takin On The Cash mare Ja Ima Nine.

Bumped early, La Lotsa Lite Cartel rallied well under jockey Noe Damian Martinez to take the second place check of $5,715. Manuel Vega, Jr. trains the Teller Cartel 4-year-old for owner Rebeca Garza Gonzalez. Jacque Tanton bred the gelding in Texas from the Chicks Beduino mare Lotsa Lite.

Josue Ponce conditions third place finisher Sing A Hot Tune for owner Luis Delacerda. Bred in New Mexico by Mike Abraham, the Corona Caliente mare is out of Medley High Note, by On A High. Ridden by Noe Villatoro, Sing A High Tune picked up $3,810 for her effort.

Kings Gotta Game, Mongoose Game, Jmf Country Flyer, Its Braggin Time, Agave Jr and One Sweet Jessica completed the field. Essencia was scratched.

G.C.F.A. 79 & Under Speed Index Futurity

It was a day for fastest qualifiers at Gillespie. Ac Comandito who posted the fastest time July 16th for the $21,000 G.C.F.A. 79 & Under Speed Index Futurity (not black-type) returned on Sunday to defeat Rocky Storm Jr by three-quarters. Hotist finished a nose back in third.

Originally scheduled to be run August 14th, the G.C.F.A. 79 & Under Speed Index Futurity had to be reset due to inclement weather conditions at the racetrack on its original date.

Trainer Adrian Huitron saddled Ac Comandito to his second straight win in as many starts for owner/breeder Armando Cortez. Nestor Duran rode the Celeb colt to a :16.907 clocking into a 12 mph crosswind to earn a 98-speed index for 330 yards.

Out of the Such Easy Cash mare Forspeed Breezer, Ac Comandito earned $7,350 for this effort.

After winning his trial and setting the third fastest time, Rocky Storm Jr earned $2,100 for his second place effort. Jose Sanchez conditions the Texas homebred for owner/breeder Jaime Mendoza. Eddie Sanchez had the riding call aboard the Primal Storm gelding out of Teller The Girl, by Teller Cartel. He has compiled a (5) 1-1-1 record and earned $6,279.

Still a maiden from only two starts, Hotist races for owner Jaime Flores and trainer Patrick Clemons. Francisco Calderon rode the Separatist colt out of Extra Extra Hot, by Walk Thru Fire. Bred in California by Steve Burns, DVM, Hotist earned $2,100 for the effort.

Teller Im Leroy, Eyes A Milagro, Lg Z Kate, Vigilante and Valentino Rose completed the field. Cc Dude Did It and Effort For Real were both scratched.
