ALBUQUERQUE, NM—AUGUST 26, 2016—TF Cajun Cartel, a Grade 2 winner during the 2016 Remington Park spring meet, sprinted to a neck victory in Friday’s 400-yard, $20,000 Quarter Horse feature race at Albuquerque Downs.

Sent to post as the 2-1 favorite in a field of eight, TF Cajun Cartel covered the distance in :19.420 under jockey Ruben Calderon. The 4-year-old Corona Cartel stallion is trained by Fernando Carrete for the Cajun Partnership.

TF Cajun Cartel was coming off of a Remington campaign during which he scored a one-length victory in the 300-yard, $50,000 Bob Moore Memorial Stakes (G2) on April 23 and placed third in the 440-yard, $250,000 Remington Park Invitational Championship (G1), a race which gives its winner a berth in the rich end-of-the-year Champion of Champions (G1) at Los Alamitos.

TF Cajun Cartel has won seven of 17 starts, and the $12,000 winner’s share of the purse from Friday’s win increased his earnings to $229,950. The stallion might make his next start in the 440-yard, $250,000 Albuquerque Fall Championship Stakes on closing day, September 25.

Alis Jumpn ran second and was followed by Eyesa Southerner, Undaunted, Chiefs Corona Charm, Phoebesdynasty, Cut Loose Taylor, and Koltiska.
