Katies Easy Moves Into Top Mark in Western States Breeders' Derby Trials

ROCK SPRINGS, WY—AUGUST 21, 2016—With a late surge under jockey Jordan Hadley, Katies Easy Moves rolled to the fastest qualifying time for the Western States Breeders' Derby during two trials contested on Sunday at Sweetwater Downs.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will go to the Central Wyoming Fair in Casper on Sunday, September 4th to compete in the $20,000-added final over 400 yards.

Saddled by Jessica Hadley, Katies Easy Moves completed the 400 yards in :19.818 seconds, a 94-speed index, to clock the fastest time. Seven of the 10 qualifiers, including the top three came from the first trial.

Owned and bred by Walter L. J. Finder, the Maknmoves gelding races in the name of O-So Mart LLC and Finder. Winner of he Bitterroot Juvenile last year, the bay has compiled a (10) 5-0-3 record and earned $21,247.

XG Bar Racing LLC's Pappadeux was a half-length winner in the second trial to post the fourth fastest time of :19.992 seconds, a 90-speed index. Ridden by Justin Vanderwoude, the Pappasito gelding went wire-to-wire for trainer Josh Taylor.

Dean and Colleen Graham bred the four-time winner in Idaho from the Proudest Effort mare Proud Lady Bug. He has earned $11,745.
