Accountably Returns In Speedhorse Futurity, Card Games Deals Win in Derby

TULSA, OK—JULY 30, 2016—Fair Meadows closed out their live Quarter Horse meet on Saturday with the Grade 3 $233,100 Speedhorse Quarter Horse Futurity and the $68,700 Speedhorse Quarter Horse Derby as the top Quarter Horse races of the meeting.

Accountably Counts Another Win in Speedhorse Futurity Final

Accountably, under jockey Yordanis Amaro, showed why he was the fastest qualifier from the July 16th trials when he returned Saturday night for a wire-to-wire three-quarter length win in the Grade 3 $233,100 Speedhorse Quarter Horse Futurity. Dicecapades, who suffered his first career loss, finished half-a-length ahead of Damn Strait for second.

Saddled by Kelli Martin, Accountably completed the 350 yards over a track rated good in :17.477 seconds to earn a 96 speed index. He bettered his trial time .36 hundredths to take home the winner's purse of $88,578.

Racing for Ygnacio Romo, the Texas-bred son of second crop sire American Runaway was also a finalist in the $1 million Heritage Place Futurity at Remington Park in June. Bred by Bobby D. Cox, from the Separatist mare Check The Account, Accountably has earned $115,976 with a (4) 2-1-0 record. He is a $6,500 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale Graduate.

Two-time stakes winner Dicecapades was going for her fifth straight win under jockey James Flores. Gerry McLean conditions the daughter of three-time champion Prospect To The Top for owner Terry McLean.

J. Garvan Kelly and Nancy Yearsley bred the winner of the FL Lady Bug and Laico Bird Stakes in Oklahoma from the Tres Seis mare Dicey Riley. The $39,627 runner-up Speedhorse paycheck boosted the $6,000 Heritage Place September Yearling Sale graduate's earnings mark to $134,029.

Damn Strait, another Bobby D. Cox Texas-bred, earned $25,641 for his third place effort. Rodney Reed saddled the Dominyun gelding out of Hottesticketintown, by Jody O Toole, for owner M.C. Stucks. Agustin Silva had the riding call. Damn Straight is a $10,000 Heritage Place Winter Mixed short-yearling graduate of 2015.

Knockemount Capi, Yourtheoneinmyheart, Tuxedeau, Live To Love, El Chanconkle and Spit Prize Corona completed the field. Trophy Wife Be was scratched.

Card Games Bounces In Speedhorse Derby Final

Coming off a second place effort to fastest qualifier Bloomer Ride in the July 16th trials, Card Games bounced to a neck victory over First Prize Diamonds to win the $68,700 Speedhorse Quarter Horse Derby at Fair Meadows on Saturday night. The aforementioned Bloomers Ride finished three-quarters back in third.

Ridden by jockey Jesus Salazar, Card Games raced over the 350-yard surface in :17.426 seconds, a 98-speed index. Trainer Matthew McCart saddled the son of leading sire Apollitical Jess to his fourth win for owner Hector Garcia.

Bred by Jim and Marilyn Helzer, from the Corona Cartel mare Stellar Shay, the Oklahoma-bred has compiled a (10) 4-3-0 record and used the $26,106 winner purse to boost his earnings total to $72,621. The Speedhorse Derby was the first stakes win for Card Game who was also a finalist to the Oklahoma Derby(G3) and the All American Juvenile.

Gary Harstack's First Prize Diamonds was a game second under jockey James Flores. Gerry McLean trains the Carters Cartel filly out of First Prize Diamonds, by Fly Jess Fly. Bred by Weetona Stanley, First Prize Diamonds picked up $11,679 to push her earnings past $39,000.

Fastest qualifier Bloomer Ride picked up $7,557 for his third place finish. Manuel Almanza trains the Pyc Paint Your Wagon colt for owner Francisco Vega. Roberto Meraz, Jr. had the ridding assignment aboard the S Bar S Texas-bred colt out of Ja Fantasy, by Mr Jess Perry.

Diamonds For Dan, Volcoms Dash, Surviving Legend, Seis To Temp, Jes Paint Your Wagon, Sr Rumrunner and Ruby Wagon completed the field.
