Hard Not To Sing Voices Top Mark for New Mexico Breeders' Futurity

FARMINGTON, NM—APRIL 29, 2016—Hard Not To Sing dueled to a neck victory over Genuine High in her first career start Friday while setting the fastest qualifying time for the New Mexico Breeders' Futurity(RG3) at SunRay Park in Farmington.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from the three trial races contested Friday afternoon, will return to the SunRay Park on Sunday, May 15th to vie for the winners' share of a $55,000-added purse going 350 yards.

Ridden by jockey Daniel Amaya, Hard Not To Sing completed her task in :17.730 seconds, with an 18 mph tailwind, to record the top qualifying mark.

Trainer Emilio Cadena, Jr., conditions the daughter of multiple stakes sire Hard Hitting for owner Osman Iturralde. Kado Enterprises bred the sorrel filly from the Major Rime mare Signin Diva.

Trainer Kenneth Grisham saddled the first of three finalists, Kg Miracle, to a neck win in the second trial to get the second fastest qualifying time of :17.762 seconds. Owned by Shirley Grisham and bred by Grisham Quarter Horses, Inc., Kg Miracle is a brother to last year's New Mexico Breeders' Futurity winner Rg Miracle. The son of Hearts Miracle, also owned-and-trained by the Grisham's has earned nearly $190,000.

Jose Enriquez rode Kg Miracle who is out of Purple Ice (TB), by Mountain Metal (TB). Today's win was the first in three starts for the brown gelding who finished off-the-board in two races at Sunland Park this season.

Grisham also trains 2nd fastest qualifier Genuine High, who was second to fastest qualifier Hard Not To Sing and 8th qualifier A Super Sonic Boom by first crop sire Big Daddy Cartel.

Jill Giles saddled Corona Bud to the 9th qualifying mark after the Call Me Corona gelding won the first trial by an impressive 1¾-lengths. Owned by John McIntyre, the sorrel gelding was bred by Mrs. Giles and McIntyre.

Esgar Ramirez was aboard for the career debut that posted an 18-flat time with an 18 mph tailwind. Corona Bud is out of the Strawflyin Buds mare Bcr Bud Lite Babe.

No. 2 leading first crop sire of money earners Big Daddy Cartel was the only sire with multiple qualifiers, getting two.
