Bigtime Spender Top Qualifier For Oneida All Breeds Derby

MALAD, ID—AUGUST 2, 2015—Jockey Nick Newbold rode Bigtime Spender to a half-length win in the first of three trials on Sunday for the Oneida All Breeds Derby at the Oneida County Fair. The Bigtime Favorite gelding clocked a :15.734 time to record the top qualifying mark from the 13 trials participants trying to garner one of the eight spots to return them to the August 9th final.

Trainer David Newbold saddled Bigtime Spender for owner Shawn Wilkerson. Bob and Jerry Gaston bred the sorrel gelding in Texas from the Feature Mr Jess mare This Lady Likes Cash. The winner of two of eight starts has earned in excess of $3,000.

Morgan Gale, a daughter of FDD Dynasty out of Coronation Time by Corona Cartel, defeated Teller Im Nuts by a neck in the second trial to post the second fastest time of :15.735 seconds. Heath Hillman saddled the filly to her third win in 10 starts for owner Bruce Hillman. Kelly/Yearsley Equine LLC bred Morgan Gale in Idaho. She has earned $5,758.

Teller Im Nuts, a Hadtobenuts homebred racing for Dan Moon, held onto the third fastest time of :15.760. Also trained by David Newbold and ridden by Nick Newbold, the bay gelding was bred in Idaho from the Teller Cartel mare Just Wanna Teller. He has earned $7,836.
