Speedocracy Breaks Maiden, Sets Top Mark in Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity Trials

AJAX, ONT—AUGUST 2, 2015—In his first career start Speedocracy got off to a slow start after getting bumped but rallied under jockey Cassandra Jeschke to defeat Hal Bent by a neck in the last of three trials contested Sunday at Ajax Downs for the Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity. His :17.200 clocking, for the 300 yards, set the bar as the top qualifying spot from the 20 head who participated in Sunday's trials.

The 10 fastest will return to Ajax Downs on Sunday, August 23 and vie for the winner's share of a $55,000-added purse going 330 yards.

Racing for George Coleman and trained by Scott Reid, Speedocracy is by former Canadian champion All About Speed from the Hotdoggin mare Hotdoggin Baby Doll. Katie Browne is the breeder.

Coming off maiden win in his first start July 5, Hal Bent settled for second to the fastest qualifier but still hung on to the second fastest time of :17.220 for the Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity. Janet Grace trains the homebred for owner/breeder Steve Hunter. Danielle DiBert had the riding assignment aboard the Flick Me A Corona colt out of Hi Class Shine, by First To Shine.

Daytona 500 was an impressive one-length winner second trial to post the third fastest time of :17.510. Also making her first start, the Its All About Speed filly races for owner/breeder Ivy Lane Racing and is conditioned by trainer Renee Wilson. Cassandra Jeschke also had the riding call.

Lloyd Desouza rode Pickin Wild Cotton to a one-length win in the first trial to set the fifth time of :17.710 seconds. David Ward conditions the homebred Wild Boyz gelding for Gary McNichol. Bred by Gary and Marlene McNichol, the sorrel is out of Cotton Country, by Southern Cartel . She broke his maiden in his first career start in the trials .
