Streak Hitter Beats Strong Field In Mr Jet Moore Stakes at Ruidoso

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 2, 2015—Olivas Racing LLC’s Streak Hitter showed he is ready for the Grade 1, $200,000 All American Gold Cup with a convincing win in the Grade 3, $50,000 Mr Jet Moore Handicap on Sunday at Ruidoso Downs.

Streak Hitter is nominated to the 440-yard All American Gold Cup on September 5.

With Jaime Parga Leos aboard, Streak Hitter raced the 400 yards in :19.466.

Champion Jesscuzican was one-half length back for second while Rocketair was third, a neck behind Jesscuzican.

Streak Hitter was near the lead and assumed command by the 350-yard mark. The gelding by Walk Thru Fire held Jesscuzican and Rocketair at bay for his second win from five 2015 starts.

Trained by Guadalupe Munoz, Jr., Streak Hitter has shown that he can win over a distance of ground. Two starts ago, back in May at Remington Park, he won the $50,000 SLM Big Daddy Handicap over 550 yards by one-and-one-quarter lengths. He was then no threat in the Grade 1, $250,000 Remington Park Handicap at 440 yards.

Bred by Edwad C. Allred, from the Chicks Beduino mare Chickasis, Streak Hitter also won the $55,000 Lovington Stakes at 400 yards last fall at Zia Park.

Darian Burt’s homebred Jesscuzican was the 2014 champion aged stallion and has been second in his latest four starts at Ruidoso Downs. The Mr Jess Perry gelding was also second in last summer’s $20,000 Mr Jet Moore to go with his runner-up finishes in the $30,000 Higheasterjet Handicap and the $200,000 All American Gold Cup.

Out of the Stoli mare Covenant Confirmer, Jesscuzican is trained by Wes Giles and ridden by Larry Payne. The $11,000 Mr Jet Moore payday increased his earnings to $246,771.

Preston and Karen Cloud’s third-place finisher Rocketair won the $70,000 Boyd Morris Memorial Handicap for Oklahoma-breds at Remington Park in May. He then came to Ruidoso Downs with trainer Clinton Crawford.

Rocketair was moved up to second place in the $100,000 Bank of America Sunland Park Challenge in April. Bob Moore Farms, LLC bred the Jumpn gelding in Oklahoma from the First Down Dash mare Rivanne. The graded stakes winner has earned more than $340,000.

J Bar, Llano Cartel, Houdini Grc Justplainazoom, Rock You, Cartels Fire and Go And Get completed the field.
