Ja Sweet Reason Tops T.Q.H.A. Futurity Trials

Ja Sweet Reason Tops T.Q.H.A. Futurity Trials

FREDRICKSBURG, TX—JULY 5, 2015—Ja Sweet Reason broke his maiden Sunday with a ¾ length winning effort over Surviving Legend to set the fastest qualifying time for the T.Q.H.A. Futurity at the Gillespie County Fairground.

The 10 fastest accredited Texas-bred two-year-olds, from the five trial races contested on Sunday, will return to the Gillespie County Fairground Sunday, July 19 to vie for the winner's share of a $20,000-added purse going 350 yards.

Jockey Luis Vivanco rode Ja Sweet Reason to an :18.278 clocking, into a 14 mph headwind, to set the top qualifying mark. Jose Camacho conditions the Executive Menace filly for owner Shadd Friesenhahn.

Ja Sweet Reason was the first of two finalists bred by Scarlett Hill Farm, Inc. The brown filly is out of the Sticks N Stones mare Sticky N Picky. Her record stands at (5) 1-2-0.

Miss Huerfanita won the second trial by half-a-length to get the second fastest time of :18.3602 seconds into a 15 mph headwind. Brian Stroud conditions the daughter of first crop sire The Louisiana Cartel for owner Jorge Haddad.

It was also the first win three starts for the black filly out of Shes A Fast Jess, by Feature Mr Jess. Jose Luis Ozuna is the breeder and Damian Martinez had the riding assignment.
