$95,000 Ruidoso Buy-Back Sets Top Time in Knight Transportation Futurity Trials

BOISE, ID—MAY 20, 2015—Johnny Trotter's royally-bred Famous Cartel Lady broke her maiden in her first start Wednesday while posting the top qualifying time for the Knight Transportation Futurity at Les Bois Park.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from the four trial races contested, will return Wednesday, June 3 to the Pacific Northwest racetrack in Boise, Idaho to vie for the winner's share of a $10,000-added purse going 300 yards.

Ridden by jockey Carl Williams, Famous Cartel Lady broke on top and extended her lead to half-a-length over Magic Moment Blues to get the top time of :15.739 seconds for 300 yards, a 90 speed index over a showery wet fast racing surface.

Conditioned by Mark Brown, the homebred for Trotter is a daughter of leading living sire of money earners Corona Cartel from the G3 placed Chicks Beduino mare One Famous Lady. Repurchased at the Ruidoso Summer Select Yearling Sale last year for $95,000, Famous Cartel Lady is a half-sister to champion and leading sire One Famous Eagle.

Brown also saddled 9th qualifier Bo Dash Back, another Johnny Trotter Texas homebred by first crop sire Bodacious Dash from the Dash For Cash mare Dash Back To Me.

The aforementioned Magic Moment Blues held on to the second fastest time of :15.842 seconds. James Hanson conditions the Carters Cartel half-sister to world champion Blues Girl Too for the partnership of Robin Dunn, Larry Chapple and RTM Stables LLC. Bred in Oklahoma by Lucky Seven Ranch, Magic Moment Blues is out of the Sixarun mare Run The Dash. Also making her career debut, the $28,000 Heritage Place September Yearling Sale graduate was ridden by Tony Guymon.

Show Me Bofum won the first trial by three-quarters for owner/breeder Bob and Scott Giltner and trainer Wyatt Elison. J.L. Torres rode the Ivory James gelding to the third fastest time of :15.915 seconds. The Idaho-bred is out of the Red (TB) mare Shez Changing Ways.

Trainer James Hanson saddled his second finalist, Pappas In The House to the fourth fastest time of :15.920 seconds. Tony Guymon rode the brother to multiple stakes winner Madresita and stakes-placed Pajarita Sita for Rob Evans and Hanson Racing, LLC. MacKie Racing, LLC bred the Pappasito gelding in Oklahoma from the Mr Eye Opener mare Mongoose Jet Eye. He is a $20,000 Heritage Place September Yearling Sale graduate.

Hanson got his third finalist of the night, second for owners Robin Dunn, Larry Chapple and RTM Stables LLC, when First Black Night posted a half-length victory in the third trial. Ridden by jockey Tony Guymon, the son of multiple stakes sire Ivory James is out of the Dash For Perks mare Oh What A Perks. Bred in Oklahoma by Weetona Stanley, First Black Knight is a $20,000 Heritage Place September Yearling Sale graduate.
