Laurel Brown Track Hosts Trial Races Friday and Saturday, Finals To Be Run May 9

SOUTH JORDAN, UT—APRIL 25, 2015—Laurel Brown Track near South Jordan, Utah hosted trials races for four stakes on Friday and Saturday. The 10 fastest qualifiers from each set of trials will return to the Utah racetrack on Saturday, May 9 to vie for the winner's share of their respective finale.

Beehive Futurity

Winners Cool Chick walked away with the top qualifying mark in the $49,690 Beehive Futurity after seven trial races were contested. The Winners Version gelding owned by A & C Racing & Roping completed the 300 yards in :15.681 seconds under jockey Tyson Lusk. Chaney Spencer is the trainer. A homebred for Chad Richard, Winners Cool Chick is out of the Chicks A Blazin mare Feature Cool Chick.

First crop sire First Prize Stone, a full brother to three G1 runners, got his first two stakes qualifiers including second fastest Beehive qualifier Otta Be A Prize. Riley Moosman saddled the gelding, out Otta Be Special by Proudest Effort, for owners Ron Moosman and Gordon Knudsen. Ron and Laurie Moosman is the breeder.

Winners Version sired three of the 10 qualifiers and First Prize Stone had two finalists in the race co-sponsored by Wyoming Downs.

SVLAC Futurity

Trainer Riley Moosman saddled four of the 10 qualifiers for the $22,833 SVLAC Futurity including the top-three finalists. Jockey Uriel Dominquez rode all four horses.

Lacey Js Little Sis posted the top mark of :16.887 seconds for the 330 yards. The Carters Cartel filly out of Lacey Jn Me, by Streakin La Jolla is an homebred Oklahoma filly racing for Sam Allie.

Jim and Chris Nebeker own the second fastest qualifier, Pay The Price, a Walk Thru Fire gelding who clocked :17.053 seconds. Edward C. Allred bred the gelding in California from the Separatist mare Oh La Hawk.

Moosman's third fastest qualifier was Birell Farms' homebred Bf Fooserageous, a Foose filly out of Outrageous, by Proudest Effort. She stopped the timer at :17.161 seconds.

Open Derby

Trainer Riley Moosman and jockey Uriel Dominguez continued their assault on Laurel Brown's trial races by posting the top two times in the $12,598 Open Derby, sponsored by Wyoming Downs.

Five Bar Sassy, a Hard Hitting filly from the Stoli mare Five Bar Fly posted the top mark after completing the 350 yards in :17.327 seconds. Sam Barker owns the Utah bred by The Five Barkers, Inc.

Jim Nebeker's Utah homebred Makin Snow got the second fastest time of :17.391 seconds. She is Maknmoves daughter out of Dreaming Snow, by Snowbound (TB).

Laurel Brown Maiden Challenge

In the $16,900 Laurel Brown Maiden Challenge, co-sponsored by AQHA and the Elko County Fair, Luis Ramirez' Mypassionsspeed rolled to the top qualifying time under jockey Jesus Valenzuela. Luis Gonzales conditions the Oklahoma-bred son of leading sire FDD Dynasty from the Chicks Beduino mare Blast Of Past. Kirk Goodfellow is the breeder.

Mypassionsspeed won the second of two trials in a time of :17.185 to garner the top mark.

Riley Moosman and Uriel Dominguez teamed again for the second fastest qualifier Madam Foose, a Foose filly out of Blushing Dale, by Blushing Bug. Raul and Luis Caballero own the filly that finished second to Mypassionsspeed to get the second fastest time of :17.458 seconds. Cesar Dabdoub bred her in Arizona.
