Rosouti Gets First Stakes Win in Delta Dash Thursday Night

VINTON, LA—APRIL 23, 2015—Five-year-old Rosouti got her first stakes victory Thursday night when she defeated Mon Ti Dash by a half-a-length in the $40,000 Delta Dash Stakes at Delta Downs. Voncitas Game finished a length back in third.

Rosouti put in a solid rally under jockey David Alvarez while completing the 250 yards in :12.968 seconds for a 96 speed index. Martin Trejo conditions the daughter of multiple stakes sire Agouti for owner Rogelio Marquez.

It was the fifth win in 23 starts for the sorrel miss and the $24,00 winner's purse boosted her earnings total past $111,000. Jo Baya Foreman bred Rosouti in Louisiana from the Heza Fast Dash mare Rose For Windy.

The wager public made Rosouti the 9-5 favorite at post time and she returned $5.60 to win, $2.80 to place and $2.20 to show. Mon Ti Dash was worth $3 to place and $2.80 to show. Voncitas Game paid $3.40 to show.

Making his first start since a fifth place effort in the $1.9 million All American Derby(G1) at Ruidoso Downs August 31, 2014, Mon Ti Dash collected the $4,000 for his runner-up effort. The lightly raced son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash races for Ponderosa Ranch of PC, Inc. and McM Farms, LLC.

Trainer Bobby Martinez saddled the 4-year-old gelding to only his sixth career start. Bred in California by Vessels Stallion Farm, LLC, Mon Ti Dash has earned $123,094. He is out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Mon Ti Fleur. Alfonso Lujan had the riding call.

Gilbert Ortiz rode Voncitas Game for owner Judith Ladner and trainer Edwin Lee Ladner. The Game Patriot 4-year-old earned $4,400 for his effort. Thomas Glenn Fotenot bred the sorrel gelding in Louisiana from the Streakin Jewel mare Voncita.

Mr Smokey Stover, Jess Ownt To, Imkeepingscore, Cartel Arrangement and Catchafasttrain completed the field.

Delta Downs will wrap up the opening week of racing with 13 qualifying trials for the $273,977 Louisiana Lassie Futurity (RG2) on Friday night and 14 trials for the $283,382 Louisiana Laddie Futurity (RG2) on Saturday night. There will be a special early post time for each trial night of 5:15 pm CT.
