OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 12, 2015—Sunday afternoon racing at Remington Park featured five trials for the $100,000 (estimated) American Paint Classic Futurity with Awesome Ricky putting up the top time over 350 yards.

Owned by the Henryetta, Okla. partnership of Cody McCart and Hugh Gordon, McCart also trains Awesome Ricky. The Oklahoma-bred gelding was ridden by James Flores and handled his trial in :18.097 seconds over a fast track into a 16mph headwind. The win was the first for Awesome Ricky from two starts this season.

Awesome Ricky is by Awesome Chrome from the Phone Trick (tb) mare Rebas Daughter. He is one of three qualifiers trained McCart, leading a contingent to the final that also includes DTL Head Honcho and Eyem Savvy.

Trainer Jeff Dean qualified five of the 10 finalists for the American Paint Classic with Pyschedelic Scott, Lajollas Lil Ms Big, Sturgis, Barracuda and Imahotchicken all going to the main event on April 25.

The $827,000 Remington Park Futurity is featured next week on Saturday, April 18. The rich event for 2-year-old Oklahoma-breds headlines a program worth $1.4 million on Saturday. Live racing resumes Thursday, April 16 thru Sunday, April 19. The first race nightly is at 6pm with Sunday racing at 1:30pm. All times are Central.
