El Chaca Leads Bevy of Qualifiers Into Desert Classic Futurity Final

PHOENIX, AZ—APRIL 12, 2015—Making his first career start, El Chaca won the second of three trials for the Desert Classic Futurity on Sunday afternoon at Turf Paradise. The top four finishers in that trial posted the top four qualifying spots into the futurity final.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to the desert racetrack on Friday, May 1st to vie for the winner's share of a $30,000-added 300 yard event for two-year-olds sired by participating stallions.

Sired by first crop sire One Sweet Jess, El Chaca broke in under jockey Ruben Lozano but recovered to win driving. His was the only two-year-old to break the 16 second barrier and posted the top mark of :15.970 seconds, an 87 speed index into an 11 mph headwind.

Eliazar Salas conditions the California-bred colt for owner Paredes Felipe. Mike Abraham and Jose De La Torre bred El Chaca from the Corona Cartel mare Corona Ld.

Royaltys Authority, a Royaltys Choice colt owned by S and S Horses and trained by Dru Hall finished second in that heat to post the second fastest clocking of :16.601 seconds. Eddie Garcia had the riding call aboard the first time starter out of Trick And Fun (TB), by Tricky Fun (TB). A Regal Choice, Inc. is the breeder.
