PHOENIX, AZ—DECEMBER 14, 2014—Ridden by jockey Luis Gutierrez, Jr., graded stakes winner Specials Gold romped to a 1¼ length win over Block N Tackle in the $20,000 Mike Hastings Memorial Stakes Sunday afternoon at Turf Paradise. Fal Vegas finished half-a-length back in the show position.

Saddled by trainer Heraclio Botello, for owner Gilberto Jasso, Specials Gold covered the 400 yards in a quick :19.814 seconds for a 99 speed index. It as the third win in four starts this season for the Oklahoma-bred son of Voughts Gold. The $12,152 winner's purse boosted his career earnings mark to more than $160,000.

Bred by A.C. Taylor from the Make It Anywhere mare Specials Anywhere, Specials Gold bounced off an off-the-board performance in his last start, the G1 Bank of America Challenge Championship at Prairie Meadows.

Matthew M. Fales trains the graded stakes winning Block N Tackle who chased Specials Gold throughout to earn $3,920. Bred by his trainer, the Tac It Like a Man 5-year-old races for owners Ralph and Carolyn Fales. The 10-time winner, out of Watchin The Rain by Takin On The Cash, was ridden by Jorge Bourdieu and has earned $195,036.

Fal Vegas races for owner Fabian Gutierrez and is trained by Ubaldo Guerrero. Ronald Richard rode the multiple stakes-placed Azoom gelding out of Separate Form, by Separatist. He picked up $1,960 for the effort. Harlee Tucker, Bingo, Cuz I Say So and Flashs Best Splash completed the field. Sea Panther Run was scratched.
