Keepn It Kool Scores Races And Aces Stakes Win at Evangeline Downs

OPELOUSAS, LA—NOVEMBER 22, 2014—Post-time favorite Keepn It Kool (3-1) wore down the earlier leader, Worlds On High, to win the $35,000 Races And Aces Stakes Saturday night at Evangeline Downs. Wakeup N Dash finished a neck back in the show position.

Under jockey John Hamilton, Keepn It Kool went four wide off the turn then shifted gears to pull-away from the field to a 1¾-length victory. The First To Shine 5-year-old completed the 870 yards in :46.492 seconds into a 12 mph crosswind.

Danny Joe Eldrige saddled the sorrel gelding to his eighth career win, first stakes victory, for owner David Lee Vance. The $21,000 winner's purse boosted Keepn It Kool's career total to nearly $170,000. Natalie Montgomery, DVM bred the sorrel in Louisiana from the Bag(TB) mare Kool K.J. (TB).

Multiple stakes winner Worlds On High picked up $7,000 for his second place effort. Vann E. Haywood trains the 8-year-old son of Game Patriot for Kris Locklear. Ridden by Dennis Means, the Don Ming bred gelding has earned $286,613. He is out of the On A High mare Sissyisonahigh.

Also a stakes winner, Wakeup N Dash added $3,850 to bring his total bankroll to over $88,700 for owner Geral Dewitt. Anthony Arey conditions the Heza Fast Dash 5-year-old out of Wakeup Call, by Phone Trick (TB). Zacharie Shane Kelsey had the riding assignment aboard the Phillip P. Deville Louisiana-bred.

Call Me Cajun Pie, T Boy P, McM Zuper Man and Shez First Class Act completed the field.
