Wontchadancewithme Gets First Stakes Win In Balloon City Handicap at The Downs

ALBUQUERQUE, NM—OCTOBER 19, 2014—The consistent 4-year-old Wontchadancewithme scored her first career stakes victory on Sunday with a half-length win in the $50,000 Balloon City Handicap at The Downs in Albuquerque. Bugsy Stinger and Pitchin Woo finished a length back in a dead-heat for second place.

Ridden by jockey Daniel Amaya, Wontchadancewithme broke on the lead, dueled early and was best late as she finished the 400 yard course in :19.422 seconds, a 97 speed index into a 8 mph headwind. The $30,000 winner's purse boosted the Carlos Acosta trainee's earnings mark to nearly $85,000.

Racing for owner Heysol Howlet, the Furyofthewind filly's record stands at (14) 4-6-1. Kirk Goodfellow bred the sorrel in Oklahoma from Br Sweet Sensation, by Tolltac.

Entering off an allowance win on September 14 at The Downs, Bugsy Stinger earned $7,500 for her second place dead-heat. The 7-year-old daughter of Shazoom races for Jesus Ivan Chavira-Terrazas. Martin Perez conditions the mare out of Sting Baby Sting, by Whirling Fastball. Porfirio Cano rode the Mike Vaughn Oklahoma-bred.

Also owned by Howlet and trained by Acosta, Pitchin Woo was ridden by Alejandro Medellin. The multiple stakes-placed FDD Dynasty 4-year-old also picked up $7,500 for her effort.

Royce Rogers bred the earner of nearly $55,000 in Texas from the Heza Fast Man mare Southern Fast Lady.

Alis Jumpn, Stel Surprise, Urbanite, Lady Secret Dash, Bf Pieces Of April and Beach City Beauty completed the field.
